agreed kimi.
i'd still like to know exactly who they agreed a more reasonable payment plan etc, as i've yet to hear of any cases where the nrp isn't being hammered with the max 40%deo plus parallel enforcement a lot of the time too.
would also like to know how you get to speak to a manager, where you normally get stuck with the dribbling chimp who answers. when you request to speak to someone who hasn't got a face full of crayons (politer than that obviously!!), they are mysteriously all "busy".NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. THEY'LL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.
and, please. only thank when appropriate. not to boost idiots egos.0 -
to be fair, when my case (im a nrp) was in a state of disarray due to serious maladministration by the csa, thankfully they admitted, I haev to say that on almost every occassion i asked to speak to a manager I got put through to one apart from on one or two occassions wehre i was called back within a couple of hours.
As you know the CSA is unfit for purpose, and by default its staff. They deal with a stack of telephone enquiries every single day, often lasting a long time as they deal with complex issues, managers will often be dealing with other people who have asked to speak them prior to you asking. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -

My ex was not hammered with a 40%. In fact for choosing to avoid paying he did not even get a DEO. I have schedules showing normal monthly contribution plus 5% for arrears. Yes the arrears would be collected within 2 years even at 5%.0 -
My other debts, I lurked here on MSE for advice, which helped alot. I didnt go to the CAB or any debt agency, instead made some calculations, prioritised my debts according to the highest interest, and now only owe ~£3k in Council Tax for a previous address.
Above in bold is the most likely reason for getting a DEO for 40%. It does appear you prioritised all debts to the extent of choosing to paying no child support for around 2 years?
Asking as although I can understand the financial logic, this kind of action puts you in a lesser bargaining position than some who are unaware arrears are even accruing.0 -
I will say it before anyone else does and this thread descends into a slanging match (be warned all of you
) if you knew that you had the liability from the CSA then you should have made some sort of arrangement to pay. The money goes towards the upkeep of your daughter, and it may well have been that they have had to cut back on other things without the money that was owed to them. I cant comment on that because I dont know the full facts of the case and there is certainly no need for you to post them onto a public forum - I just know that someone will point it out!
OP I'm sure that you would not want your child to suffer any deprivation because you haven't paid the maintenance due? Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Was just trying to help the op - however have decided it's bad enough dealing with NRP's in work never mind on my weekend so wont be checking this thread again
hope the op gets sortedComp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0 -
Hi all
Just opened a letter from the CSA, who state they're going to be taking £231 a month plus £377 a month for arrears on a DEO, making a total of £609 per month
My take home is just £1518 a month
Now dont get me wrong, I have no qualms paying for my daughter (even though I dont get to see her - her mother moved house and changed all contact details - disappeared off the face of the planet), and also about paying the arrears, but £609 will completely cripple me. I phoned them up to ask if I could make a more reasonable repayment of arrears, but all they said was the only way to do that is to make them a lump payment of part of it now and they'll consider it
I'm currently off work with stress and depression (full pay thankfully for now!!), and this is the last thing I need. I have no savings to make this lump payment
I've been in debt to the tune of 5 figures for a number of years, and have been working hard to clear them - down to just £3k debt left (or so I thought!), and so still have alot of monthly outgoings to creditors etc. This means I eat simple foods and never go out. I have no life and no friends since I cannot afford to socialise
Anyway, the relevant question...: Whatever happened to "reasonable offer of repayment" for arrears??? Doesnt that apply for the CSA?
HELP!
How much arrears for CSA do you owe? To repay over 2 years, what monthly payment would it result in? If lower, then you may be in a position to renegotiate. The 2 year steer, whilst not law, is policy and not a figment of anybody's imagination. Staff have no choice but to follow policy - they don't have to agree with it, but they still have to follow it.
How long did these arrears build up over? Why did they build up? Did you pay any maintenance at all over that period?0 -
Arrears should be in the region of £9,000
with an assessment of £231 a month I make that 3 years the OP hasn't paid for:beer: I've paid the CSA off and stopped them taking payments:beer:
I'm stillowed some arrears by my ex
I was a NRP, now I'm a PWC, partner of a PWC, and parent of a PWC ( and very confused at times )0 -

OP posted total arrears as being £5904, payable at £377pm. Plus normal assessment of £231pm.
£5904/£231 works out as 25.5 months if not paid anaything at all.
£5904/£377 means Op will be paying that amount for 15 months plus probably a smaller amount for month 16.
If OP has chosen not to pay then although people can share their own stories, it would probably be better to offer the options available and say to treat it as a bonus if it comes to fruition. The best way forward is to assume the schedule will stay in place and offer more practical information over how to cut monthly budget - another area of the site would help more with that.0
