Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 19th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
HSINhouseWindow02HL.gif Morning lovely OS-ers!
bday2.gifMudgekin - hope all is well with you, we miss you on the Daily.
Nesssie - Hope your husbands MRI went as well as it could.
jc and jackie - Hope you both feel a bit better today.
Noahs - I think you are amazing. hugs.gif Though - David Platt??? giggle.gif
JackieO - Prayers said for Big Frank
Bitsy - love to you and your parents, sorry to hear the sad news
Lowesy - Thank you for the pm hon and hope you get things sorted at the Drs.
Butterfly - WTG girl! Before I became so housebound I would occasionally find some helpful person I was innocently chatting to in the Drs waiting room preface a question with 'I am not being rude but..' (which is always a sign they ARE going to be impolite as we all know!!) and then asking me if I had ever tried to diet. Hmmm.. No, that never crossed my mind, thank you SO much for suggesting it!
N9eav - Great news about the car.
SunnyG - I love the sound of that party food
Julie - big hugs honey, I am sorry things are so worrying for you right now. And I can empathize on the not sleeping thing.
Smokey - was thinking of you and the little ones on Weds
Dazi - glad the Apple cake went down so well.
Celyn - woohoo1.gif your very own minion!
Please can everyone send up some more prayers or positive thoughts for Tris, he is really not so good and needs strength right now. Thank you.
Thank you to everyone who missed me and/or mentioned me. I have a few friends who all seem to have hit a crisis over the last week or so and I have been supporting them as best I can and this week it seemed to catch up on me so haven't posted. Stops me dwelling on my nephews anyway!
HShungry.gifBreakfast will be Weetabix and fruit. Lunch will be tomato soup for my OH and toast for me. (HM bread of course.) Dinner will be spanish omelette. That is about it for the OS-iness apart from potting up my seedlings. (Unless feeding tadpoles counts?)
I hope everyones day goes well and that anyone feeling poorly feels better. With love, light and HShuggies.gif for all.

    Morning everyone!

well, it's blowing a hoolie here and the rain is battering off the windows. I've been awake for a wee while as this horrid cold is choking me when I lie down. :( Never mind, as is said, a treated cold will last a fortnight and an untreated one will last 14 days!

DH got on as well as can be expected with his scan yesterday. He was really tired when he got home and was glad to have a shower and get to bed. I had dinner waiting when he got in, so we had baked gnocchi with peppers along with some garlic bread that I found in the RTC section for 35p :)

He bought me a Greggs sandwich from the airport for my lunch today, so that's that one taken care of. Going to make a big pan of chilli for the weekend when I get home from work. Other than that, have nothing else planned.

Hope you all have a good day - and that it's calmer and drier than here!

    Morning folks.

Friday, but I am day off anyway. Work tomorrow... anyway I have invited some friends over for supper, although as yet I am not sure what we are having. I have to avoid wheat and milk products as one of my guests is weird like that. I can do that, if you have ever cooked for a family of vegans when they visit, you can cook for anyone....

Sold the OH car. Had about 20 calls, so wish I had 20 cars. The buyer was a bit eccentric and was delighted to have a car with the original handbook and his first ever airbag! Paid full asking price. The cash will go straight into the loan account reducing that somewhat.

Looks like rain most of the day. I think I will mooch about the house. I got a very sore arm from sanding my boat yesterday and also some dust in my eye which i still can't get out. So tidy the office, 10th aniv bargain hunt at lunchtime, and cook tea.

Got £20 in Amazon voucher from the surveys I do, so spent them on CD's straightaway :D

OH has supply work, so that is good.

So pretty chipper here I guess..... have a nice day

    Morning everyone.

Not much in the way of OS going on here at the moment. I've done no baking this week but have cooked from scratch most days this week so that is something. I just don't know where the time goes these days. I can't believe it's Friday already. I have a course all tomorrow morning so that will be half the weekend gone
Sun is peeping through the clouds at the moment. We've had some rain in the night but hopefully that will be all we get today. Tea tonight can be something lurking from the freezer.

Not read yesterdays thread yet so hugs to those that need them.

Diva - sorry to hear Tris isn't doing so well. Vibes heading his way as requested x

N9eav - wow lucky you I've never had anyone pay full price for a second hand car, haggling has always taken place.

nessie - hope you've battened down the hatches! It's really nice and calm where I am........

Have a good day OS or not.

Hello chums thank you for all your good wishes .He had an op last night and it seems they have found the clot and sorted that, and put in a stent so fingers crossed all will be well.He is 78 and does suffer with cellulitis and a problem with his blood which means he is on warfarin tablets daily .Margaret went home with her DD for the night and will be going back to the hospital today, so I hope all will be a bit better .I have the school run this morning so I'd better get a wriggle on I'm going to try that smoked pate recipe today as something different.<<hugs>> to all those who are down and blue I remember you all when I have a chat with the big guy last thing at night Prayers can never do any harm and hopefully do some good I know not everyone are believers buteach to their own I always remember Tris at night as he seems to have had a bit of a rough time what with one thing and another Diva.
What harm can a prayer do, when I was poorly in 2007 I had my nephews complete congregation in Bury praying for me every Sunday and when I went up to see him 18 months ago I was surrounded by folk whom I had never met saying 'Oh your the Vicars aunt who's not been well'They were so nice and welcoming to me it was like meeting a whole new family .My nephew has a parrish church in Tottington near Bury and its packed out every Sunday. Its only a little place but everyone knows everyone else and they are so friendly. If there were more chaps about like our Hughie I think the churches would be fuller. He is the most unlikely sort of bloke you could have as a vicar ,very down to earth and ordinary but a lovely man who really cares for his flock.
Well time I was toddling ,hope you all have a good day although its looking a bit misty and damp at the moment
    Take care all,
    JackieO xx

    Good morning ladles and jellybeans.

Organised early today as poor old OH has a sore back so I did Coco's morning walk today, her season seems to be coming to an end, so feel a bit safer!

Glad things sound positive for Frank, Jackie, hopefully he will continue to improve today.

Lots of positive wishes being thought for Tris.

Well, today so far I have out the bins out, tidied up the patio, put the WM on and put some Croissant in the oven! Phew! Although I have to confess the Croissants were Aldi bake from a tin ones, the dough was lovely and soft, I think they were 69p, so still cheaper than bakery couter ones, and less fiddly than doing the dough myself, I'll let you know how they taste - but they smell fab.

Today I am having a major spring clean downstairs, MIL is coming for tea, so the yorkies from last night became tonight's dinner and we had some HM Chinese style stir fry with Cashews and Tofu.

Hope you all have a great day, and that those who are poorly get a bit better today, and those who are sad find something to smile about. Hugs as always,

    Jackie X

ETA N9eav, as you're from cornwall, and the 10th anniversary is tin, how about some tin jewellery? My oh got me a lovely necklace of Cornish Tin and silver with a wee diamond accent for our tenth and it's just about my favourite piece of jewellery.

    Morning All

Still not 100% here but a 1000 times better than I was! Managed to get to the loo and down the stairs myself this morning so thats a big improvement! The floor seems to be staying in the same place I just feel a bit 'swishy' if I move too quickly. Not due back at work now until monday so hopefully by then I'll be sorted.

Absolutely nothing OS has happened here - unless you count the yellow stickered chicken in breadcrumbs DH did for tea last night....although they were well and truly cancelled out by the chips from the chippy to go with them :rotfl:

I need to get back into batch cooking and baking - I've been so busy lately it has fell by the wayside a bit and I miss it.

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning all

Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.

Dry, cloudy and windy here so not sure which way the weather will turn, some of the clouds look rather grey and threatening.

Had a reasonably productive day yesterday, got housework done, just need to do ironing, and baking. Will be heading off to town to the bank in a while then to take my little car to the garage, the garage people will give me a lift home whilst they look at car, so I'll be able to crack on with jobs.

Went to the scales yesterday and I've lost another 1lb, was absolutely stunned as haven't been all that brilliant - but did stay the same last week and had been very good - so could be delayed result, or could be because OH and I were away on our own last weekend and had some very nice quality adult time (sorry if TMI this early!).

OH already gone to work at stupid early o'clock and he's working tomorrow morning as well, will be using this time to get right up to date so we can crack on with the painting in the dining room when he gets home. Both boys have rugby matches Sunday morning, DS1's first match, both playing at home so would like to watch them play.

Dinner last night was liver, bacon and sausage casserole, mash and veg. Not sure what we will be having tonight as on line shop being delivered between 6-8pm.

Not much other OS to report.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
