Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you had ever used the online takeout site "eatitnow.co.uk"?

The reason I ask is that on Saturday 13th March I placed an order with them to be delivered from a local takeout pizza place.

The order seemed to go through as planned I entered my card details and thought all was well but then after a while the 'processing screen' showing the status of my order had not updated so I rang the restaurant and they told me that they had never heard of the online company and that they do not deal with them!!!

I immediately rang my bank and as a precaution they cancelled my card, but as it was a saturday and after 8pm the bank told me to call back on monday to see if I could be reimbursed.

I called eatitnow' customer services line 1st thing monday morning to be told that I would be refunded automatically as the order hadnt gone through, I questioned them why the restaurant claimed they had never heard of them if they were a legitimate company, they said theyd investigate and get back to me... they didnt! Despite 2 further calls to this company I am yet to receive a satisfactory response and my money is yet to be refunded even though they said it would probably take 3 working days to process...

My question is has anyone used this company before? Is it just some technical error or have I actually been the victim of online fraud?

I can't find anything online from anyone reviewing this company, I would really like to get to the bottom of this!

If anyone has used this company satisfactorally I'd love to hear from you as it would certainly put my mind at ease, I really hate feeling like I have been the victim of online fraud, as I am usually so vigilant when using my debit card online!

Thank you in advance x

  • At a bit of a glance it does look pretty legitimate. I'd say they're merely middle men who take your money, siphon off profit and order the food on your behalf. Not particularly ethical, but there you go. Keep on at the phone line x
  • Did a bit of digging for you. They're a registered company so it is unlikely they are about to scam you. Give them a call back and chase up your money. It's possible an incompetent customer services rep messed up

All my local takeouts will take my card details over the phone. At least I know who I'm on the phone to. I've never tried ordering takeout online. I'd be wary of stuff like this happening.

Hope you get your money back. Good luck.

  • Thanks guys, I really hope you are right 'notsosavvy' I suppose all I can do is wait and see if my card does get refunded... if it's not refunded by tomorrow then I will pretty much have to resign myself to the fact that I was in fact ripped off :(
Unfortunately they don't accept card payments over the phone locally fluffnutter (or not in my limited experience anyhow) maybe they have been ripped off in the past or are just too small a business to bother... I won't be ordering online in the future that's for sure!
In any case I will update this thread whatever the outcome (so that no one else gets ripped off in the future) x
  • some of my local takeaways have a big sign in the window for this online ordering, it may not be the same company, but there seems to be a few takeaways involved with them. i would not order from it as one of our locals is extremely grotty and i dont want any food from there

i've used eatitnow once but didn't pay online. I wasn't impressed with their setup at all, the website was slow and it looked very shoddy. If you want to order a takeaway online I would recommend you use justeat.co.uk as i've used them alot and happily pay online with them. I think there are a few of these online takeaway companies these days and Justeat are by far the best (and safest).

Hi i have seen the eatitnow stickers in some take aways around manchester so I am guessing its a legit company? I'd always use justeat.co.uk, have used them hundreds of times and never had any problems :)

I've used them twice for our local burger place but haven't paid on line. Both times the order came quicker than stated and with no problems at all.

I ordered with Just-eat.. food didn't turn up so rang the takeaway and they said they never got the order. Said it'd be another hour and then just-eat rang me at 11pm saying there was a glitch did i still want my food....
I'm gonna ring the takeaway straight after ordering if I do use them again.
