However the stuff seems to get everywhere and unlike veet which rinses off pretty well, this stuff goes white and tacky in the water. A very sticky business.
Try using baby oil to get it off ;)

Hi I am just about to use up the last of The Body Shops "Sugaring" which I have had for ages.

I have just found this recipie to make it yourself!

Thank you SO much for the recipe, redballoon! I have always wanted to know how to make the sugar mixture - I knew it involved sugar and lemon juice, but no more. I have a little bit left in my Body Shop Sugaring jar (has lasted years in my case too), but after that I will do it DIY. It helps that DH keeps bees so I won't even have to buy the honey..... :-)
And the Body Shop cotton strips and spreader are always re-used anyway.

I love my epilator! I went through a phase of avoiding it because it hurt, but I'm now back on it with a vengeance. Although, I do'nt know that I'd be brave enough to try underarms! If I do, no one else will be around, and it could be a question of doing a little, then getting the tweezers and doing it that way. I'm wincing just thinking about it!

Don't do it, Frugalswan. Just stick to the razor attachment for underarms. Trust me, I know!! *Winces at memory*

I've always gone to the beauty salon (irregularly), but am trying to economise and do waxing at home. How do you clean the fabric strips? do you just soak and wash, as with reusable nappies?

I found that the pain gets less with time and make sure you don't wax when your period is due, as you're more sensitive. I can even pluck my eyebrows now, to keep the waxed shape as long as possible. When I first started my eyes were streaming.

Well, on my legs where I'm used to waxing, it hurt like hell, but was bearable for the result... underarms... imagine a grown woman, with tears dripping down her face, and gritted teeth with one underarm done and one left to do trying to find the will to carry on.

God, I could have written this! I keep wondering whether I ought to give one another go...

(Admittedly I did try using it on my bikini line on my first use...I think I could be heard screaming from 30 miles away :D)

And another vote from me for using baby oil or baby oil gel to remove stubborn little bits of wax.

Sally is open to all but the have two price one for the public which is a lot higher than the profesional trade price. The also may not sell certain product to the public.
The trick with waxing is to stretch the skin tight, before you remove the strip.
Always remove in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
If waxing your bikini area, do it in small area at a time, stretching the skin.
Trim hair before waxing, if long.
Some people like to take a pain killer prior to waxing. Do do it around the time of the month, as you are more sensative
Sudocrem is the best thing to apply after waxing as very soothing, would not put on legs but all other areas.

If you use the sugar mixture (either from the body shop or home made), the fabric strips are a breeze to clean: sugar dissolves in water, so i just soak them in the wash basin for a few minutes to clean off the hairs etc then they simply go in a wash with other cottons and I do iron them flat again afterwards.

The other advantage of sugar over wax is also that you never end up sticky yourself: just wipe off any leftover sugar mixture with a damp or wet wash cloth and it is all gone.
