I'm another epilator fan, I have really hairy arms and legs. I've always needed to shave my legs every three or four days which was pretty tedious, plus as the hair grew again it made my legs really itchy which triggered my eczema. I couldn't wax as by the time the hair was long enough to wax (about 2 weeks) my legs looked awful.

I bought an epilator earlier in the year and it's been the best thing I've ever bought. The regrowth is so much slower and much much finer. For the first time ever I can go ten days or more without "shaving" my legs as the regrowth isn't a problem.

For the dark and hairy amongst us I highly recommend an epilator!

(I did emphasise with the grown woman weeping whilst epilating underarms!! It's worth persevering with though! )

I absolutely love my epilator it is the best thing i ever brought. I brought it two years ago but due to the pain hadn't used it when i brought it! But have been using it regularly for 6 months and have been so happy. i am trying to try with bikini but going slowly slowly.

To stop ingrown hairs you have to make sure that you exfloiate (sp?) at least 1 a week but more often is better.
  • I get horrible ingrown hairs and a nasty itchy rash, especially on bikini line (wow, feels well weird sharing this with anyone other than my bf!!!), and lower legs, but exfoliating just makes them bleed/get more infected/swell up. Does anyone have any suggestions other than exfoliate?

I normally shave or use hair removal creams, but in the past I've tried home waxing (nightmare, had bright green wax stuck to my legs for days, and had to wear trousers - still have the scars where I tried to pick the stuff off), and plucking individual hairs - less inflamed hairs, but time consuming and ouch and I still get a rash!

Soluble aspirin in a bit of water, dabbed on the area with a cotton cloth. Stops the irritation and the ingrowing hairs. Twice a day (it's nearly the same as they put in commercial things that claim to stop ingrowing hairs too).
