Also, there is nothing to stop them editing the recording to only show you (possibly even by providing you with prints rather than the recording), and no one else in the vicinity.

In fact they may be required to do this under the Data Protection Act, to protect the identity of staff or other customers.

Somehow I can't see this. If you are in a shop, you will see the other staff and the customers - their identity has already been revealed when you are first there!

So far...I emailed them on the 13th (tha day after), they replied on the 15th saying they would look into it. I said thanks. They replied on the 16th saying that nothing had been handed in. Well, I knew this as I was in there the day after.

I then replied stating I wanted CCTV footage of myself, quoting a number of parts of the DPA(1998), and some other helpful comments which have come up on here. I will add the full transcription once I get a reply. I'm a little concerned that the chap dealing with my request may simply have no idea about what I'm talking about, or may generally 'not give one'.

    Have you paid your £10?

I have just asked for it at the moment. They should be aware of the process' involved and should inform me of; the route to go, people to contact etc. The £10 is the current statutory 'maximum' set by Parliament.

It may be a fruitless task but I can but ask and we live and learn.

Subway outlets in certain areas at certain times of the day have guards. Including Scotland.

Takeaways that are open late at night often require security as a condition of license, it's not that uncommon to see bouncers even in McDonalds late at night
