I'm tempted by the Sky HD+ offer, but many questions, from a Sky Virgin...

  • I subscribed to Sky yesterday via the promo link after receveing Martins newsletter, in order to recieve the £25 M&S voucher and the ipod touch they charged me £30 for installation and £49 for the sky+ hd box (as I don't want the HD channels), I was happy with this and thus proceeded.

Anyway I logged on today to carry out the same transaction for a friend, the same offer is on however today the box is free, I called them to ask if they would refund the difference, at first they agreed then I asked if there was an ipod attached to the order and he seemed really sheepish. He told me he would cancel the order altogether and advised I was best off reordering?!

I then spoke to a Sky chat advisor, she told me the ipods were still in stock and she'd spoken to a few people who were moaning about the same thing! Anyway long story short, I cancelled the order placed yesterday (£79 one off fee) and submitted a new order today (£30 one off fee), you apparently have a one month cooling off period however once it has been installed I will be on the phone chasing delivery of the ipod touch and should it not be forthcoming I shall be cancelling for a second time and for good!!

Lastly I have just checked the same link again and the offer has changed for the third time, its now £49 for the box but free installation!?!!?

scrap that wow its very confusing, because its sold looking like its a package, like all the other packs, eg buy movies and you get all the listed, but the hd pack is only whats included in YOUR pack, so if your not subscribed to movies or sport you dont get them anyway or how in hd.
unless you taking all channels and hd pack youll then get the full 37 channels! blimey thats naughty, it should be clearer.

And this is what Martin says in his newsletter (my emphasis in lilac):

    Urgent! £150 iPod + £25 M&S voucher for new Sky+ signups
    Only 5,000 available! Get HD+ box, 200+ channels & installation for £20.50/mth all-in
Ending Thurs 25 March, this is the best sign-up incentive deal we've yet seen yet for people who want Sky. As well as the £25 M&S voucher, sign up via this specific Sky promo link* (goes live 9am Wed) and the first 5,000 sign-ups get an 8GB Apple iPod touch (worth c. £150). Non-HD deal: Sky+ HD boxes are now standard, but you needn't opt for its HD channels. Take its 200-channel variety pack for £18/month plus £30 installation, making it £20.50 all-in. HD deal: For £28/month you can get the 37 HD channels on top (you'll need an HD telly to notice) and here there's no installation fee. You pay line rental on top: To get Sky TV you need a BT or Skytalk landline too and will pay c. £11/mth on top for it. FULL info, alternatives

    No wonder I'm confused!:(
  • saw this on hotukdeals and ordered it myself, but had to cancel because my flat admin doesnt allow installation of satellite dishes:
quidco =65£ (though trackng at £120)
Free sky+HD box, free standard set-up, free HD pack and half price sky TV for a year (new customers)

    https://www.theskyteam.co.uk/OFFERFROMSKY/register.aspx?custType=New

a bit short in time, so pasting the link of the deal
    http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/635089/free-sky-hd-box-free-standard-set-u

    all the best

    Hi
Do you know if you have to have a bt/sky phone line to get the ipod offer? I had a online chat with a sky rep who said i could keep my virgin phone line and have sky tv but i'm not sure if i can have the ipod unless i take the phone line!
    Thanks

I ordered this offer on Thursday and they are installing Monday, but i did phone to ensure I would receive the ipod touch, they said I would, but to date I have not rec'd anything in writing mentioning the ipod at all. I did pay the extra £49 but hopefully I will get that back according to the message on this site, fingers crossed.
  • can anyone else confirm the iPod issue? Offer is only really worth it if i get the iPod to sell on. But as others, have recieved nothing in writing about it. The chat rep i spoke to before placing order said it would be delivered with the viewing card and welcome pack. But have recieved the card and welcome pack without any mention of it.

    Thanks

  • Hi guys. Filled in the online form for Sky HD + Ipod Touch + £25 M&S offer last Wed and will have it installed on 27th. Got welcome letter without mentioning Ipod yesterday so called customer service straight away to confirm my eligibility. Unfortunately they don`t have a clue about that offer and seems like no one knows what I was talking about. Now I`m waiting for a call back from other dept.
If I won`t get free Ipod I will cancel with no hesitation. :o
