The important question is, does this Freedom scheme superceed any other Barclaycard cashback scheme that is already in place? I already have the Barclaycard where you get 1% cashback on EVERY purchase. Will I get this and accumulate Freedom points, or will I lose my original benefit of 1% on everything? If so, I will be worse off :-(

Think I'll just stick with my Leeds BS Barclaycard which is 0.5% everywhere. Not the best but for my spend levels it is better than Egg and Capital One.

There are four cards that are excluded including the barclaycard cashback card and goldfish card.

Nope thats right Eric - a very surprisingly small amount of 'big' retailers seem to have joined, as yet

This scheme is rubbish! (1) Retailers have only been "invited" to join, they may not have accepted the invite. (2) The map of freedom outlets round my home has its little red flags on residential streets, not businesses, so it's clearly fiction. (3) When you go to the freedom website to "simply" register they want e-mail address, mobile phone number, and all sorts of info so they can send you regular spam. Forget it!

That's better than I got - when i put "London" in as the location (the suggested example on the site!) it came back that no-one in the area gives the points!

Received all the Barclaycard guff in the post this morning.

One things that's not clear - either in the MSE article, or in the Barclaycard material is if this is online or in-store only.

    Anyone can confirm for sure?

I just find it funny having freedom points balance £0.00 on the Barclaycard online knowing full well it will still be £0.00 a year from now.

I'm happy with my Nectar and Tesco Clubcards accruing points ready for Christmas - got me a nice juicy turkey and bottle of Baileys with my reward points last Chrimbo :D

But this Barclaycard Freedom tripe is going to be an absolute flop...
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Yup, have to agree. 0.5% on Shell and 1% at Pizza Express! Woohoo! The rest, I've ever never heard of or have no reason to go there.

Most of the time I buy Pizza Express it's from Sainsbury's so that's Nectar points I get :)

If I do go to Pizza Express it's waiving my 2 for 1 meal deal voucher and then I pay with either my Tesco Clubcard 0% purchase card, or an Egg Money 1% cashback card ;)

Not a single reason for me to be tempted by this Freedom card. Fine for existing card holders maybe, but so easy to get more back for your money.
