Hi all
We are hopefully moving next week and was just wondering if anyone has got any free boxes we could use or no of anywhere where we could get some.
Thanks0 -
Last time I moved house I was staying in Edinburgh, right in the centre of town. All I did was walk into a local hi-fi shop and ask them if they had any, the guy looked at me funny, but I still got the boxes!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Just thought I'd point out that McDonalds still give away their 'Mac Fries' boxes if you ask nicely. Got two yesterday, they're collapsed, but a bit of reconstruction with some packing tape and they appear quite sturdy.
If anyone's interested, the dimensions of the McD boxes are 38cm x 27cm x 39cm and will previously have held 15kg of fries0 -
You can not get good free cardboard boxes. Only you can buy these. One thing is possible that is you can buy at affordable price.0

Cardboard box sourcing Update: I've tried Sainsbury's Crystal Peaks in Sheffield - one flat answer - they don't have any to give.
M&S Crystal Peaks Sheffield promised they'd save me some for collection next day - no one did, no one knew anything about it.
Tried Morrisons Halfway, same response, plus some guff about 'Ealth & Safety....? These supermarkets won't give you owt fer nowt.0 -
I got some from the local asda, went to the crisp aisle and some ladies were stocking the shelves, I asked I could have the empty boxes when they've done, yes no problem they were left for me within 10 minutes. Probably a bit bigger than ideal but beggars can't always be choosers0

My Asda (Rossendale) will sort cardboard boxes on request - give them a bit of warning & you can arrive to find twenty boxes piled up neatly awaiting you.
I'm a longstanding fan of the cases alcohol comes in (double layer corrugated carboard, small enough to lift even stuffed with books) no matter what future neighborus may think.
I also commend the George at Asda clothing boxes which are bigger, also double layer & robust.
Make a few calls, lay in the parcel tape & all the best!0
