I went into Asda today for some boxes as having a clear out and wanted some for a car boot. Asda said they had none as they have a machine out back which squashes them and bales them ready for recycling.

Same with a few other places I tried too including the fruit & veg guy on the market. I couldn't beleive it was so hard to get boxes.

Finally drove to Morrisons who had them and mentioned to the assistant that I had trouble finding boxes and she said Morrisons prefer the customers to reuse and recycle them which I agree with. She said they put all boxes out and all boxes go ... so possibly try your local Morrisons if you have one near you.

Good Luck with the hunt ... It's actually harder than you think!

I went to my local Tesco's to ask about boxes. I was told that I would need to get there at 6 am when the unpackers finish work. (The store is open 6am until 10 pm.) I haven't been there yet........I guess I'll have to get up extra early one day next week.

Are you moving yourself or Removal company? We got fed up with moving ourselves so last time went the removal Co route - they packed everything, moved us, then left us the boxes to unpack at our leisure - the cost wasn't bad either!

Or visited your local Direct Marketing company, they've usually got load of boxes to get rid of - that's what we use to do!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!

You could try the stores department in your local hospital, loads of boxes are flattened and binned/recycled every day, or if you know anyone who works in the hospital, all the better, a high stock turnover ward would be good to try, e.g dialysis wards, intensive care wards, theatre deparetments, etc. Youd have to uplift of course, but they'll be free, Give a ward a call first and they'll probably keep them for you, hope this is helpful. xxxxx

  • Try your local garage...

I get loads of crisp boxes when going from home to uni, which are great for moving everything, from my heavy text books, through to CD's etc.

They may only have 1 delivery a week though, so it best to find out when and what time, so they dont all get skipped.

Also, as mentioned in a previous post, a lot of firms do crush their boxes now. At Homebase, we have a bailer, more hassle than its worth imo, although we do have a bit at the front for large boxes.

try mcdonalds, i used to work there and thats what we always used and we gave loads away to customers. The fry boxes are the best, they are not to big, strong and will stack.
