Leaving scene of accident

I feel for you, if it is any consolation?
When I was a young lad I had this kit car. Not much to look at but it was my first car, road legal and I was very fond of it.
The muppet who lived over the road reversed into it and it was a right off. His insurers were really difficult and their assessor valued my car at £25. BThey new I was 3rd party insurance, young and nieve and had little choice but to accept it."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Getting back to the original point - the law is quite clear here.
The neighbour should have stopped after the accident & provided her details to anyone having reasonable cause to request them.
Ok, the OP wasn't around to request those details, but how was the neighbour to know that - there is no excuse for 'failing to stop'.
Having failed to stop, the neighbour was then under a legal obligation to report the accident to a police officer/at a police station as soon as practicable & in case within 24 hours. She has clearly failed to do this & thus committed a further offence.
There was no legal obligation on the OP to report the accident to the police.0 -
There is a rover 100 on autotrader - about 43K miles (in white) for £400 notes (on a P reg) - MOT until 2011 (Jan)
Few others up to around £500 (picked that one as it had the closest mileage).
Seems they are offering you what the market stands - fair or not.
No it isn't mine

I assume you have a small hire/courtesy car at their expense whilst this is going on...might be worth telling them that you need a car quickly and may need to involve an accident handling company (without doing so it'll get complicated) to get the ball rolling..that might concentrate their mind.
We finally agreed on £650 and an extra 2 weeks courtesy car hire (a Corsa) - better than nothing I suppose - such a kick in the guts when I now find out they are repairing her car.
There are a couple of cars I'm liking the look of on Autotrader but I know I will still have to pay for repairs to get it running like my Rover 100 did. Just been to get the road tax disc out of car and I couldn't believe the amount of damage done in engine bay and round wheel arch (the alarm still worked though LOL) - he said it's not worth buying back off insurance company as it's a major job (not just a case of buying panels and door) and she must have been going a fair speed to cause the damage she has.:j:T Total Prize Value 2012 - £1835 :T:j
:AThanx to all the good people that post comps (and answers!):A

Glad someone does - I've had 1 and it was the most hateful thing (even the hillman imp in purple was better).
I'm sure that for every bag of nails there are good ones.
Obviously you might be location restricted but there are about 20 or so available (in varying degrees of wishful thinking).0 -

I am now calm enough to fully appreciate that things could have been an awful lot worse - I may never have known who was driving and had to fully claim on my own insurance, they could have valued the car at far less - the really funny thing about today was collecting the tax disc and having the stupid car alarm go off (didn't go off when it was smashed into though LOL:rotfl:) - I cried with laughter!:j:T Total Prize Value 2012 - £1835 :T:j

Good result Bezzza pleased for you, may i suggest you try a Pug 106 (Zest3, power steering and central locking etc) when looking for a replacement, nimble small and good visibility like your old car, good little motor with few vices.0
