Thats not bad for £1.20. One of the places I used to work at in London used to have a heavily subsidised cafeteria so I generally got all my lunches there. A jacket spud with 2 topping was 80p with a side salad, the main meal of the day which was all homemade was £1 with a pudding, or they did lovely salads for 80p too. The dearest roll or sandwich was 80p. Their breakfasts were amazing too but as I rarely ate breakfast I only used a couple of times, but a proper full English for £1.50 with juice and toast. On the floors all hot and cold drinks were free.To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
When I first started work, the canteens were always subsidised serving good meals. Then they mass changed into this snatch and grab, over priced coffee bars, with garish orange coloured food, served with luke warm beans and heavily over priced. Last place, I went for lunch first day and was gobsmacked at £4.40 (2000). Thought it was a mistake and never ate there again!
Place I now work at does decent rolls and meal bits from £1 through to a main meal for £2.85, expecially Curry ThursdayI hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

I was looking on Amazon at those Bento/Box Appetit boxes, they don't look big enough to me, do they hold enough food?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I've been buying those Weight Watcher meals recently (selected ones 4 for £4 at Tesco). Served with a large side salad, they made for a filling lunch.0

I took this recipe from a thread on this site somewhere, so it's not mine, and credit should go to someone else (sorry, I forget the username), but.........Baked Beans Pasties (can eat hot or cold):
Baked Bean Pasties
Makes 8 pasties. Can be frozen for a month
Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion finely chopped
1tbsp mild curry paste,
100g red lentils (can use meat instead)
450ml veg stock
200g baked beans
100g frozen peas
1 tbsp mango chutney
450g puff pastry
1tsp caraway seeds (can be left out)
Seasoning (including sea salt)
Preheat oven to 200C
Heat oil and fry onion for 5 mins. Stir in curry paste, lentils and stock. Simmer 15-20 mins until thickened. Stir in beans , peas and chutney. Season.
Roll out half pastry on floured board to 30cm square. Cut into 4 triangles. Repeat with other half. Spoon 1/8th of mixture onto one half of one triangle. Brush edges with water, fold other half over and press edges together. Repeat with remaining pastry and filling. Brush with egg (or water) and sprinkle caraway seeds and sea salt . Bake on a baking sheet for 15-20 mins until golden.

There's a box in asda thats two tier, one large top tier for a sandwich and the other is separated into two. I just use that.i think it was three or four pounds. It holds enough for a substantial lunch. if I can be helpful with anything else feel free to pm me. x
