  • Hi LouBlue

This was exactly a problem i found when adding sliced tomatoes to a sandwich !;)
Top tip is to slice the tomato and then place it on some kitchen towel doing both sides ! what you are doing is taking away some of the moisture.
I now can enjoy my sandwiches that are made the night before and not having to eat soggy sandwiches the next day !:D

another option would be to put a tiny amount of salt (low sodium variety if you are worried about your intake) as this should have the same sort of affect

another thought which came to me today over lunch (cheese and pineapple sandwich anyone  :D ) would be to sandwich the wet filling (eg tomato) between two less porous fillings (ie cheese, lettuce, ham). by avoiding the wet filling coming into contact with the bread, you should help to avoid a soggy sandwich, whilst still getting to enjoy the moisture that a wet filling brings.

personally, i dont know what all the fuss is about. one of the best sandwiches of all time is a soggy one.... cheese and beetroot, where the beetroot juice has been allowed to soak into the bread. yum yum! just me then? :rotfl:

Great thread, boy am I hungry now.

Just started work again after some time off and already I am bored of my sandwiches.

I love tomatoes in my sarnies but when I put them in the night before, they are soggy the next day. :(

Apart from the obvious...putting them in there in the morning...I always have NO time to do that....is there a genius on here that knows how I can put them in the night before and they are not soggy by next lunchtime? :D

Could you not take a small tom in with you, or keep one in the fridge at work? Then just freeze the cheese sarnies, pull out and do at work.
