  • My kids have food allergies so I have to cater for them myself.

Try making your own dips and take carrot, celery or cucumber sticks: bread sticks or crackers.:p All you need for the dips is a jar of mayo and add different spices eg curry powder, garlic powder, sun ripened tomatoes, or take the easy way out and grab some humus or stuff from the supermarket.

Failing that, starve - Think yerself lucky you have a choice, my kids don't!:rotfl:

What about cous cous? You can add anything you like to that

HM Sausages rolls are nice and if you have a microwave at work, you can warm them through

Yes make your own much more cheaper. It seems a recent trend of late I been doing it for donkeys years, I never understand why people pay inflated prices for a paked lunch

Couple of sandwiches with a loaf or buns and desired filling
a biscuit or fruit (or healthy biscuit that you can get)
a yoghurt (12p for a value one from Sainburys)
    packet of nuts or crisps
Cold drink, squash, fizzy or hot flask
  • yes quite agree, i have always done pack up for kids, and hubby.

A full month's worth of decent packed lunch for £25 (and child will not be embarrassed):
    • Ham or Turkey sandwich
    • chunk of cheese
    • crackers with cheese
    • peanuts
    • fruit-shoot
    • piece of fruit
(£5) Bernard Matthews Princess Ham / Dinosaur turkey roll packs are 2 for £1 at most supermarkets at the moment. You get 8 slices per pack... so six packs will last >20 days. You would use a full loaf of bread (£1 for premuim) over the course of a 1 month... and a bit of butter of course (£1?)

(£4) A block of premuim cheese from a supermarket will cost £2 and last ~10 days.

(£4) Ritz crackers (2-for-£2) with soft-squirty cheese (£1 per squeeze). Squirty cheese will only last 2 weeks max. once opened so buy two. Could try replacing quirty cheese with peanut butter for a change a few days!

(£2) Tesco have their new range of nuts on special --- a big bag will last >20 days (kiddies portions!).

(£5) ASDA have the Robinsons fruit-shoot drinks on 3-for-£5 --- there are 8 plastic bottles per pack, so enough for >20 days (three flavours to choose from).

(£5) A fivers worth of bananas, oranges, pears, whatever...
    ...
  • Why not try a healthier option to bread - Stores own Pitta Breads c40p for pack of 6
    Store brand yoghurts/fromage frais c 15p each
Maybe use leftover meat from Sunday roast
Make your crudites - carrots, celery etc
    Fruit 10/20p per piece
Instead of buying premixed drinks why not just buy a sprts bottle and fill with squash or water
