I recently called Experian's Credit Expert service to cancel my subscription and they offered to continue it for £3.49 per month.

So that works out cheaper than getting a couple of reports a month - also less hassle.

If you're paying the full price to Credit Expert, it might worth trying to cancel and see what they offer.
  • £2 credit report works well for me, no phonecalls to make and dont need to 'fake' six years address history. It's got scam written all over it :)

If you dont have 6 years address history then dont apply for it - forcing you to add false info, you having a laugh?

Except I had the same problem with even getting them send the £2 GBP credit report to me either online or by post.

You either send them mail, or try to phone them.

If you mail, then you just get into the same situation that they "can't identify you" (which by the way is not surprising considering their address database is totally inaccurate), and you don't have any ways of verifying and correcting their errors immediately, and believe me, they are totally incapable of spotting their own errors.

If you phone them, then they try to convince you that you have no other way, but to register online, which you can't do due to the above mentioned reasons. However, they don't understand that, instead they try to force you to specify false data on the phone (happened to me several times), and then they will correct it immediately, they say. However, since you can't get through the online registration if their system wants you to send them some proof-of-address, therefore you won't be on the phone with the same representative, thus you end up with false data on your records which they forced you to enter.

As for them correcting any data while you are on the phone, particularly incorrect addresses, it took me months to have my address fixed which only THEIR database had incorrectly (their own address-by-postcode database was erroneous, and therefore everyone living in the same block of 12 flats had their address incorrectly on their accounts, but they wanted me to convince Electoral Services to send them a correction request... the lazy morons). If you want to get anything done, ask for a manager immediately, when they try to stall you. I have never managed to get connected to a manager (!!!!), but they start to be able to comprehend your problem after that and possibly pass on your request to someone who is able to at least understand it. The first line of phone representatives is apparently there only to steer you to their website.

As for pure cost comparison, their monthly unlimited service is still possibly worth having if you get 4-5 reports a months (e.g. if you check once a week), as it works out better than their £2/report fee... which is £3.50 if you request it on the phone, btw.
