it is a floppy disk.. (comes from the word diskette)

Depends what context as to when a c is used i believe :)

I'm a studnet though so probarbly waaaaaaaaay off, (but would still get an A if marked by our examiners)

    disc or disk
In British English disc is the usual spelling, but American English uses disk, and disk is also more common in computing, as in disk drive.

    Is it Encyclopedia or Encyclopaedia?

    Encyclopedia.

As far as i am aware the AE version is more of a marketing thing rather than a spelling thing.

Hello to all you kind techie people out there. I am tearing my hair out please save me...here goes
I am trying to install the McAfee Internet security suite 8 and uninstalled the previous McAfee virusscan prior to the installation , I also remove ewido, spybot and all other types of protection.
.The problem is when I try to install the security suite 8 it keeps telling me I have conflicting antivirus software by the name of CA e Trust Antivirus. I have gone into my programmes and there is nothing of that name. I did find some hidden files and anything with that name I deleted...but still the software will not install please help before I go madThanks shrewdal:mad:
Thanks to everyone who replied to this, but I still can't get rid of this CA e Trust Antivirus. I am so mad at Mcafee , you would think that the new Mcafee programme would get rid of this other virusscan before installing , the thing is if I'd bought the package online from them it would have cost £50 but I got it half price from P.C world. I got the other stuff online last year and decided not to this year as 2 weeks after I bought the viruscan last year they asked me to upgrade!! Anyway sorry for going on but does anyone know how to get shot of this e Trust Antivirus and why is it remaining hidden. The Mcafee technicians online gave me 5 A4 pages of instructions which I followed to the letter but I was told e-trust antivirus was still there!!! pleeeeeze heelp me someone thanks shrewdal

Did you look in the Startup List in RegCleaner? What about the Uninstall tab?

It isnt possible really for any company to create the uninstall programs for all the diferent peices of software. usually they would innitiate the uninstall program for any other antivirus software but your problem is that parts of the old AV are missing so you need to remove them your self.

I told you the easy way of doing this by installing eTrust antivirus again then uninstall it. this will update the traces of the old stuff and remove any that are not required, the uninstall will remove them allowing you to install mcafee.

The other way is to search the registry for CA, compurer associates, etrust and anything else that could be part of it. when you find any result check to see what it is and if it is part of etrust antivirus if it it delete the entry also go find the file on your hard drive and if it is in a CA, computer associates, etrust folder remove the file if it is in windows, system or system32 leave it but make a note just incase you need to remove it.
***Editing the registry can cause huge problems and cause windows or other programs to stop working whihc is why I sugest using the other method***
