Hello to all you kind techie people out there. I am tearing my hair out please save me...here goes
I am trying to install the McAfee Internet security suite 8 and uninstalled the previous McAfee virusscan prior to the installation , I also remove ewido, spybot and all other types of protection.
.The problem is when I try to install the security suite 8 it keeps telling me I have conflicting antivirus software by the name of CA e Trust Antivirus. I have gone into my programmes and there is nothing of that name. I did find some hidden files and anything with that name I deleted...but still the software will not install please help before I go madThanks shrewdal:mad:

hit start, run type in regedit and search for registry values to the suspect program.

b.t.w. programmes are on tv, programs are installed on your hd.
  • CA e Trust Antivirus

hmm if you have a corrupt installation of that.. you could redownload and install it, then use the uninstall program with CA Trust Antivirus :)

Ive had the same problem and it isnt just etrust AV.

I managed to sort it out by removing any trace of it in the registry this can be risky. and deleting files from the PC that the registry refered to.

annother sucessful method was much easier to reinstall etrust in this case or norton whatever then use the uninstall process to get shut of it. then you can install Mcafee without problems.

RegCleaner should sort this out for you and if you remove anything from the registry that you shouldn't have, it can be restored for you.

    Download from here.

form the "Run" command type MSCONFIG, then look at what you have loading at start up, if you see the "problem file" uncheck the tick box and reboot, the file(s) should not then load and you should be able to load your AV Software...

Programmes are on your PC too.
Programs are just another idiotic American spelling that some people seem happy to go along with for some unknown reason.
