Good morning all, I thought I would give it a bump as I found it on page 2.

Well, all this money saving is time consuming:D Hardly had time to get on here for the past few days.

I had a brain wave on Friday (very unusual for me I must add), I sat thinking I couldn't justify getting a loan for a conservatory (even though my husband company had offered an interest free loan, I still had to repay it within 2 years, I still had to find £400 per month to repay it), so I sat and thought how we could make the house work for us as a family without spending too much money, the problem being my husband likes books (he has over 1000 at the last count) and we needed to accommodate them, and I said a few years ago that I would sacrifice my dining room so he could have a library, with wall to wall book cases and a chair, as we could eat in the kitchen, but I didn't like to eat my evening meal in the kitchen, I'm not the tidiest of cooks, and I tend to use all the utentils etc, so eating in a complete mess I found stressful.

So I got the tape measure out, and a glass of red, and worked out we could accommodate the bookcase in the lounge if I rejigged it, to enable me to put the dining table back into the dining room and I could have a breakfast bar type thing in the kitchen, so armed with the info, I told my husband my plans, he said ok:j, so we have re-orgainsed the house, painted the dining room, and I am very very happy with the results and so is my budget.

It is amazing what you can do when you think about saving money, it is time consuming, but why spend money you haven't really got when you can just work with what you have.

Anyway enough waffling from me, I off to read this thread. Horace i hope you are feeling better, and nic, how did the cheesecake turn out, I will pop back over the thread and have a look.

It's a beautiful morning here, and I'm going to take the laptop in the garden and have a coffee, see you soon,

    take care,

Well done to Numpty for getting on the course:j

    Nic, the cheesecake exploded?

Nargleblast, my DD is the same with cookery, just shoves it in the bag on her way home, and looks like a complete mess when she arrives home, when I was at school (showing my age here) we had wicker baskets with a cover on to bring our cookery home, I couldn't imagine her walking around with one of those, "not cool, Mum", she won't even take a Tesco carrier bag to school with her, "not cool, Mum", but if it's a Jane Norman bag then its a different matter (I went in to Jane Norman last time I went shopping, and bought two of those bags, paid a £1.00 but far cheaper than buying something from the shop).

NID - enjoy Glasgow, I loved it when I lived there, the people are very friendly.

Right, hugs to anyone who is in need, I'm finished my coffee, going to hang the washing out and talk to my plants, they need all the help they can get, why don't they grow like the photos in the books, I do try with the garden, I get disheartened when things die, and they generally do in my garden, rubbish clay heavy soil and a slopping garden, not a great combination, I should have had a bog garden, I think that would have been successful.

    Take care,

    WASHER.x.
