harassment by phone

I am getting pestered by a load company that my sister made. She does not live here and this is my house.

I have requested all phone calls stop and my number be removed from the data base verbally with these letter heads. Now after a conversation with them they are saying they do not have to.

what are my options, the debts not mine or do i owe them any money.

I would give them your sisters contact details and let her sort out her own mess

OP, have you actually sent those letters, recorded delivery? That should do it.. there's also a template somewhere I'm sure to send when the debt is not yours..I'll try to hunt it down for you..

thank you pip that would be great,
    I sent the letters recorded.

Just had another big argument because they are saying i have to send proof she does not live here. I refuse to,

surely i have legal rights since it's nothing to do with me regardles

You could try re-wording slightly a a prove-it letter and adapt it to your situation.

There are follow up letters in that thread too, and advice to follow up and report to the OFT and trading standards too if you are ignored.

why dont you just give them her address?
  • Erm how about a lawyer? I know it costs money but I've also heard of cases where the victim kept a diary of when the calls were received and managed to win compensation for harrassment via the courts.

when they phone up just talk in a really realllly slow way,
keeping repeating everything that they say! LOL

Or better still why not just hang up on them and refuse to get drawn into playing games? LOL

hahaha that is brilliant. Glade to see some people have a sense of humor

as to why not give them my sisters address. Because she asked me not to.

Always remember its upto them, that "you" owe the debt, you don't have to give them any information about the whereabouts of anyone else
a few follow letters and things if you want them are on here

  • Tell them to pop round since the money has been dropped off by your sister.
When they turn up you can tell them in person that she no longer resides. hey bingo presto hey"
