Pruning Buddleia

I think it will be fine, they are fairly rampant and hard to do anything wrong with. When I moved into another house I also cut one down at the end of summer just to tidy up and it was fine. If you are satisfied with its shape and size after autumn pruning just leave it. If you think it needs a bit more, go for it.0

Well thanks, my dad taught me all I know, but I dont do much these days. When I was a kid I used to be a bit hacked off that we didnt have a proper back garden with a lawn, swing and pretty flowers, but I loved helping him. But if you pick the right book up its all there.0

My neighbour cuts there's in Autumn so it should be fine he is a keen gardener
I think Autumn and Spring are fine prune them0 -
My next door neighbour has a lovely purple one and its beautiful in Summer
Love to get one myself to grow up on a old garage wall but will have to take another plant out which hardly flowers
I know you don't have room, but Buddleia grow very easily from hardwood cuttings, and as now is pruning time you can easily increase your stock. Just stick a pruning offcut into the soil, it really does not matter on soil or size, but about 18" would be fine. put in more than you need, at least one will root
Autumn pruning is fine, reason for leaving is the seed heads provide winter food for birds
The later you prune the later the flowers, well within reason that is
PS they also will spring up from self sown seeds and can become weeds, I have loads self sown in flower pots and wallWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -

My O/H chopped ours back too short last year - and it all sprouted back at leg height. Kind of annoying - means you can't get near it anymore without having to (wait for it) chop all the stupid little bits off it again.
I like ours to have a trunk.
Sorry, it may be obvious that I'm not a particular fan of this sprawling, PITA of a shrub! My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
