I just pruned the buddleia that I planted 2 years ago, but I have one that I inherited with house that is massive (probably 12 -15 feet tall) which my ex-OH used to tackle, any one know what happens if I just leave it? Could probably get my 2 DS's to have a go if I can drag them out of bed during the Easter break
"I been looking at getting one of these, funny enough I just read they like pruning early Spring" they are absolutely lovely savemoney and they're not called Butterfly bush for nothing

If you don't cut them back they go all straggly and the flower spikes on them will be puny

I started to prune mine a couple of weeks ago but found the wood so brittle it would just snap off really easily. Buddleias are really tough so I thought, why not?
Made the job much easier.
