  • Me too, been on Ebay since 1999 and they do not close NBP's. We do the work and hence we get the slating off the buyers. Ebay pride themselves on distancing themselves from opening disputes.

Erm... a few PS have recently mentioned something similar on the discussion board. It looks like a trial that has the potential to really ar5e things up.

I've had this happen, so I know the OP has it correct. When you go to the dispute in the resolution centre it says something like "the buyer has indicated that they intend to pay for this item". Then the seller has to wait, the case cannot go foreward, fees cannot be refunded. The buyer just has to 'promise' payment, and that stops the non paying bidder thingy.

Only happened to me once, but has happened.

That sounds like such a ridiculous idea ... I really hope this doesn't become permanent.

Thank you, i knew i wasn't going mental and have previously resolved any issues in the past etc.... What a joke though. The seller is held to ransom and the buyer can basically do what they want. Nuts !!!!

Thats why i was fuming

Ebay didn't want to know as buyer had said they would pay...therefore i couldn't close the case against them....who then proceeded to leave negative feedback for an item they bought and would not pay for !!! and had no intention of paying for !!!

Exactly. A buyer does not need to resolve non payment (ie PAY) to be able to leave feedback - they just have to respond to the non paying bidder case. And a case is closed when the buyer responds, not when the buyer pays - there's a difference, which is at the expense of the sellers (again!)

I've found out a bit more about this.

It stems from people who have paid by cheque, but the seller has not marked as payment received, or even opened an UPI.

It's just another step towards a paypal only site IMO.

So, do they just have to say that they sent a cheque then?

Logically (I know it's ebay so probably not) does that mean if there isn't a cheque option then this loophole isn't open?

Bit concerned by this tbh, madness!
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
