- make a batch of quorn mince chilli for baked spuds and for lunches later in the week
- post a v cheap but v pretty card with a...wait for it...Christmas 2007 2nd class stamp! I found a full book of 12 in a drawer. Result. :money:

Hello everyone

Had a very good MSE weekend. Instead of paying for car to be valeted - seriously disgustingly dirty - I set aside a couple hours on Fri and cleaned it myself inside and out, and also did OH's car on outside. So saved myself £25 in valeting fees plus found 20p! Cleaned out handbag and found 30p. Every bit helps.
Also bought M&S Mother's Day Meal Deal x 2, 2 half legs of lamb, 2 veg dishes, 2 puddings, 2 wines + 3 wines for £10 and 1 extra to make up to 6 bottles to get 10% off. So full bill would have been £72.64 but with discounts I paid £47.47 - :T. Very pleased. So have frozen one meal deal and cooked delicious roast lamb for my lovely Mum yesterday with rest of family and had lovely day.
Used Boots No7 £5 voucher for £7 eyeshadow so only paid £2 for it. Looked v. nice on too.
Benefitted from Waterstones 3 for 2 on books: 1 for Mum, 1 for OH birthday in June and freebie was an Orchard Toy's puzzle/game for DS3's birthday in April.
I am starting to enjoy this MSE saving money & getting organised in the process. :j
What a beautiful day here in Devon. My boys are all better after all being poorly last week, so the 2 eldest are at school and little one is at grandparents for the day. So on my peaceful day I have:
Made all beds and tidied all bedrooms
Aired all rooms - lovely fresh day
Hung 4 loads washing on line
Re-washed few items to get rid of kid's chocolate & food stains!
Cleaned up kitchen, put some things away that don't get used much and rearranged so looks much clearer and nicer
Done dog poo run
Tried to contact Uni re course info - will have to try later
Our dinner is scrummy leftovers from yesterday - roast lamb & gravy a la James Martin recipe - mmmm, and mash and spinach & fennel gratin + leftover M&S cheesecake.
I also need to:
Clean out fridge
Have lunch before 1.45
Read 30 mins of library book - anatomy (so I get into practice of putting time aside to study for when I start studies in Oct with OU)
Walk dog down fields on way to pick up boys from school
Drive economically to Mum's - boys have tea there
Make packed lunches.
Have NSD
Check online banking
Ironing tonight
Put couple baby items on ebay
Read Saturday's paper tonight
Watch one of many taped Casualty episodes tonight
Find country-ish round breakfast table & chairs for conservatory, either Tesco direct/Argos or even better, Freecycle.
There, must go. Times a ticking!

Happy Monday!
Just to be nosey - how did you set your budget - I know I'm thinking of a modest wedding - did you do the budget to suit your wedding or have a budget and then figure out what you could do for that.
Excuse if it sounds a stupid question - and don't reply if its too nosey:D

determined_new_ms wrote: »Morning everyone. Ah I have another day off today, and the sun is shining, bliss! Although I've booked myself to go to a work exhibition with a colleague, I want to cry off and have a full day off but am trying to decide if this would be a poor showing? I guess it is but still may not go as am ALWAYS working

Today I will:- [STRIKE]I didn't make it to the gym yesterday as so that is the top of my list today, and then have a sauna [/STRIKE]:D
- [STRIKE]Go into town and buy potatoes to chit [/STRIKE](whole new experieice for me, v excited about it!)
- [STRIKE]look for the missing packs of seeds I didn't use last year[/STRIKE]...
- plant seeds - toms, cu's, lettuce, courgettes, and the missing ones if found - so exhausted not sure I'll be able to do this...
- Ring the college beauty salon and see if they will refund me £50 on a block of 6 facials I bought last year. I've only used one as the timestable there isn't compatible with my work schedule. Fingers crossed. Will go straight to my debt if I get it. the woman was not impressed in the least, I felt quite bad. She's taken a photocopy of my receipt to discuss with manager and will contact me. I fear that i'm going have to be very charming/tenacious about this..
- [STRIKE]Do any surveys availble[/STRIKE] 5 done
Thanks! Wishing you all a lovely, LS stress free day
Oh my goodness so exhausted after the trip to town/gym. Walked there and back, round trip of maybe 4 miles but with the potatoes and other bits I got it was a workout in itself! Running programme is coming along very nicely! when I first started I was doing running for 1 min, power walking for 4. Today I was running 1min 40 secs and p/w 2 mins 20 secs. Still a real battle to get myself there...
Went thru all of my draws and didn't find the seeds so bought some more and then on the way back had an idea where they could be and then found them  debating whether its worht returning fo about 80p..
Done a load of washing @ 30 quick wash and picked up some money bags to pay in loose change/£2s into savings account.
Now I've written I might not plant the seeds it's given me some motivation to get on with it!

Cleaning house today, so have been browsing on here while floors are drying.
Today I have checked online banking
Had new electric meter installed (how is this moneysaving?) We were economy 7 but, I changed suppliers last autumn and was supposed to have a single rate supply, nice man neglected to say I would have to have meter changed, anyway when I received my bill in February it was £100 more than I calculated it, so I complained and they informed me I needed my meter changing and they were very good and credited the £100 to my account, so all good:D
I have been reading about frugality, have discovered I am already quite frugal, but there is room for improvement.
Dinner from freezer (shepherds pie)
Cleaning today with all bits and pieces in cupboard under sink.
Today is a lsd as I only have to buy a stamp to send my dd my m&s vouchers, so she can buy a pair of jeans. (I am a kind mummy or a gullible mummy I am not quite sure)
Well off to do bathroom, very skeffy
