In my 2 x HHC I; FINISHED THE MONDAY LIST, STAR PLEASE TOOTY STAND-IN, but must admit that oven was done yesterday and fridge this morning as Mr T delivered. I even wiped the blinds which I hate doing :(, and I have to agree it was a harsh list this week Piggers :p.

Have also DW, WM & TD all x 2, made and eaten very tasty Delia olive and anchovy pizza, my bit without cheese (but am still secretly envious of pigpen's chippy tea, my stomach couldn't stand it, though :().

Oh, and dug pair of roller blades out of tidy garage for DS1, but it's packed tetris style and of course they were at the back, then spent all time he was out worrying that he would break his neck or stove his head in - he was delivered back from a sleepover on Saturday morning having had no sleep at all  and having fallen of a tree swing on to his face :eek: which is scratched and bruised, bruised eyes and nose, scratched arm and leg and generally shaken. He slept all day and night Saturday and then was hideous yesterday .

Thanks for the encouragement (running quickly away to avoid flying knickers:D), it's amazing what you get done when you pull your finger out. Hope your tea was tasty too:D

Sexym - if I were you I WOULDN'T call in sick tomorrow - I'd go in regardless in the hopes I spread the germs where they were most needed (i.e. evil head and traitor colleague) so that they couldn't, ever, pin the "can't cope with stress" button on me.

Sounds like you did really really well under the circumstances so big yourself up about it and be confident
    Hugs xxx
Like the thinking Soappie, and ditto :T Sexym

AnWs Mum - hope you had a good meal out, Mr Pangs used to be good for a group night where Willy's favourite joke was 'this chicken is rubbery' but guess that has all changed now?

    See you on the morrow,

Not sure my neuro could be called poor and defensless though, he has a serious God complex!
You have helped me panic less, thank you.

Trust me, even the Almighty Consultant Neurologist is helpless as a little bitty kitty when his secretary wants him to agree to something - she knows his birthday, his kids' birthdays, whether his wife is in a good mood or not, what all the nursing staff think of him, what the patients think of him, what the Clinical Director REALLY thinks of him, what the Registrars think of him, whether he's had too much coffee, whether his God complex has taken a battering over the weekend emergency on call rota...

and how to rewire his phone socket when it got broken and configure his laptop so he can talk to his eldest daughter who is working with Medecin Sans Frontieres in some he-llhole when he hasn't heard from her in a month and is really, really worried about her...

OH saw list when he came in from work earlier and wanted to know what 'gibble' was and instead of the official definition I just said, 'all the stuff on your shelf' :rotfl:. Response? 'Oh:o'.

Have read through the old thread and wanted to say a big thank you for all the kind words both on the forum and by PM and also for the birthday wishes.

My usual reaction to a crisis is that I decorate something - ie a room in the house. My eldest daughter left home under a cloud some years ago (we have made up since) and I decorated the bathroom; when we lost our youngest daughter, I decorated the living room; this time, I have our bedroom and the conservatory in mind.

It has been one hell of a few days. My mum had been in intensive care for a week and they had been talking about sending her back to the ward and then home. That was about 2nd or 3rd March. At that point, she started vomiting and had severe abdominal pain which even morphine did not take away. The symptoms were off and on, but by Tuesday (9th March) they were constant, so the decision was made that she should have surgery. It was absolutely the right decision. Withoput it, she would have died in agony; with it, she stood a chance, albeit a slim one.

They operated on Tuesday evening and the operation was a success. She had a perforated bowel and afterwards all her vitals were stable. On Wednesday, we (my eldest daughter and I) were going to have a day off. Mum was sedated and so we thought we would go shopping. However, we got a call telling us she was bleeding internally. Rushed back to the hospital. They took her for a second op at about lunch time on Wednesday. The good news was that the bleed was not as extensive as they had thought and the blood/wound was clotting. The bad news was that they found a further bowel perforation that was new since the day before. However, again she was stable and everything seemed fine.

Thursday morning, I rang the hospital and all was fine. About 11am, we popped into the hospital just to say hi (she was still sedated but they said she could hear us), just after the doctor had done his rounds. She was no longer stable. Her blood pressure was through the floor and her heart rate was through the roof (150-180 beats per minute). She was on the highest dose of everything they could give her to stabilise it all, but it was totally out of control and there was nothing more they could do. They continued until everyone who could be there was there (her brother was going to travel down from Liverpool to Sussex - he didnt in the end; well, he is 80! and my son was in the middle of exams and also in Liverpool, so he didnt come either) and then they withdrew the drug that was trying to keep her blood pressure up and turned the oxygen down to room saturation (it had been 70%). They also increased the pain killer and the sedative so she was totally unaware of what was happening.

She passed away 'peacefully' at about 5 to 3 in the afternoon, about an hour and 10 minutes after they had stopped supporting her blood pressure and oxygen. Cause of death, severe Raynaud's with underlying vasculitis.

I say 'peacefully' but how peaceful is it when you are surrounded by tubes, machines, bleeps, and all the bells and whistles under the sun??

Friday we stayed in the area until the evening, when we set off to come home. We decided to stop off in Bedford where I had grown up and stay overnight.

Saturday was my birthday. We drove out to the village where we had lived and then went for a walk so i could reminisce about my childhood and talk about my mum and what she was like while I grew up there.

SDunday, obviously mothers' day, so my OH and I abandonned any children we might have and took opurselves off to Windermere for a boat trip on the lake and dinner out.

Today, all I can do is cry and I want to scream 'I WANT MY MUMMY!!!!!' from every rooftop in the place - but there's not a lot of point really. She cant hear me any more. But I know she knows I love her and I will never forget her.

Bye Mum, love you loads and miss you forever.

    Ruth

PS: I really want to change my name in here - what's the point of being called after a mountain?? I have asked but no-one has answered when I emailed - can anyone do anything about it? I would prefer to be RuthG.

Ruth, I have just read your post - and what can I say but we are all standing there with you at this time. Thank you for your honesty in your pain, although the pain of loss will be dulled in time, you never will forget your Mum and what she meant to you. Try to remember the good times and not how she was at the end and be thankful that you were with her.
God bless you and lots of ((((((((hugs))))))))

    :D:D:D:D Monday Star Please :D:D:D:D

Haven't switched on the computer all day in an effort to get some serious work done on the kitchen. Helped that I was still sans car so effectively trapped in the house. Anyway, washing pile cleared and all put away, windowsills gibble-free and appliances shining. I feel so SMUG!!!! Still a lurking small of burned Mother's Day cake, but we can't have it all can we :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I will now catch up on the thread....

:TThanks to the triffic trio for their continuing selfless toil on this thread:T
