you have lots of friends.. there are over 200 on here!!!
that is the nature of people I'm afraid.. lots of people are frightened by epilepsy I've found. They are helpless and out of control if you have a seizure and they simply do not know what to do. As a friend I would ask what help I could offer and learn about it so I could be a better friend.. not everyone is that helpful!

Thank you, Don't think I have ever had so many friends:o
I understand people are frightened by it but I would rather they told me that so I could explain.

Sandy – agree with all that has been said write everything down/and friends like that aren’t worth it. I found in times of crisis it was my ‘virtual’ friends who got me through not the ones in the ‘real’ world

I have it all written down now (well most of it:o Not sure I want to put it all)
I am starting to find out how wonderful my virtual friends are.:)
Sandy71, Sandy, Sandy - when I was a medical secretary, if one of the lovely nurses asked me to get someone seen that they particularly liked, I would usually try and catch the consultant off guard/on the way/agreeing to something else, as I knew full well when he wasn't paying attention, he would usually say 'just stick 'em on the end of Tuesday's clinic list'. No dire diagnosis/suspicion was necessary, it was just a case of scheming, devious manipulation of a poor defenceless Consultant Surgeon!!!!!!!!!

In the same way, if someone was being investigated for something horrid, if there was a gap because a meeting had been cancelled, I'd book in the most worried for 'drop in' appointments, just so the boss wasn't sitting there drumming his fingers (and coming up with great schemes which made tons more work for me) and they didn't have to wait as long to get the all clear/the clinic schedule acquired some convenient gaps for additional urgent appointments.

(But this is technically a secret, as if the department manager had known, she would have gone spare as it affected her figures and targets)

The machiavellian machinations of a medical secretary :D

Anyway, the point is (yes, I do have a point) that it doesn't instantly mean a disaster to get seen so quickly - it could easily be a nice nurse calling in a favour with the consultant/his secretary!

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. And Lady-L. And everyone else.

    xxxxxxx

Thank you for that, I was panicking that I was in so quick, though I'm not sure the nurse likes me think she just wanted rid of me. I have been there too much:rotfl:
Not sure my neuro could be called poor and defensless though, he has a serious God complex!
You have helped me panic less, thank you.

LadyL sending hugs to you too x

  • soappie I'm wondering if the son, who doesn't sound too nice, has irrational paranoias about taking his place in the father's affections and/or will?

I don't know why, but if ever I have heard of family members not wanting kindnesses done to their parents, its beacause they are scared of losing some advantage they get from them?

Sorry, not very clearly put, but may explain his motivation?

Thanks grateful - I believe the son knows me and the OB haven't seen eye to eye in the past but were neighbours. The son has absolutely no reason - rationally or irrationally to think I would supplant him in his father's affections or will (Heaven forfend!)

The consensus locally is that the son is just waiting for him to pass on so he can tap into the inheritance. Harsh as it is, written down like this, it seems to be true.

I have just spoken to a local Councillor on the phone about the situation. He is onside and has said he'll be at the meeting early to help me unload etc. and is all for the OB attending. He has a similar view on the motives of the son.

I will still phone the home in the morning to double check and get my primary sources just to make sure. But I'm prepared to get the car out and chuck the wheelchair in the back and the OB in the front ;)

    Wish me luck all!

Sandy - I'll be sending lots of good outcome vibes for tomorrow. I know you're worried, but please tell the doctor everything. (As far as I know) you aren't a medical professional, so something that seems trivial/ something you don't want to mention, might be a very important symptom. I really don't want to scare you, I just know from with what happened with my Dad that sometimes it isn't the obvious symptom which is the most important. Sorry, this made more sense in my head...

Lady-L I'm so sorry the news wasn't what you wanted. I know whatever we say won't be enough to express how much we all love and treasure you, but we do, and we are all here if and when you need us.

My headache has been bad today so haven't got a huge amount done, but I've posted my signed contract to Germany, got my hair dyed, did some homework, and started on the kitchen.

    Love and hugs to everyone,
    xxx

(((((hugs)))) and love to Lady L

soappie - I'm sure that the son isn't brave enough to actually confront you :p:p

sandy - write EVERYTHING down, or we'll want to know why. And we'll be thinking of you at your appointment. Toots used to say we were far too noisy when she went for hers :D

my blood donor session for tomorrow has been cancelled :( due to lack of staff. And I've had an invitation to one near home, but yet again, it's one that no appointments are available for. I'm beginning to think they don't want my blood. I can't find ANY local appointments...
