I went to Thassos in 1999! It was brilliant, such an amazing island, it wasn't commercialised at all then. Lovely memories :)

My fiance and I are looking to book our honeymoon to Kefalonia for August this year and we've shortlisted down to the two 'main' towns of Skala or Lassi as whilst we want a bit of relaxation we also want to do things like watersports at the beach and enjoy eating out in a variety of places in town - has anyone got any advice or tips for these two regions?

Skala would get my vote without hesitation. We have stayed here twice and loved it. We visited Lassi when we hired a car but were grateful we hadn't stayed there as we felt it was too noisy and commercialised. Matter of choice though. Skala is a fabulous place to relax and has lots of great places to eat. Not sure how much water sports as we weren't really interested and our beach time was spent in little coves.

You could always hire a car to visit some beaches with water sports. Have a look at the tripadviser forum to see if there's any information there.

August will be very hot so plenty of sun cream! All the best for your wedding.

We enjoy the island of Lesbos especially the resort of Skala Kalloni which has a nice authentic Greek feel about it. It seems trhe number of flights from the UK to Lesbos has decreassed considerably in the past few years. Maybe it is sign of British people not going because of the economical unrest.
