lol it may be useful for someone who has the same question in mind.
I loved Rhodes, Pefkos and Lindos.0 -

Kefalos is a very relaxing holiday with lots of different restaurants to eat out in the evening and loads of lovely places to explore if your hiring a car........us as a family love it and have been going every year sometimes twice for the last 7 years... in fact we are getting married there this year in September cant wait.0

Summer was late arriving in Greece in 2011 and at the end of May the sea will still be cold. I holidayed in northern Greece in the first week of June in 2010 and had a couple of overcast days and some thunderstorms.
I would tend to go a bit further south , Rhodes or Crete, in May personally.0 -
May departure date is no longer relevant as the OP asked for advice in March 2010 presumably for a holiday in May 2010.
We went to Western Crete (Chania area) for 2 weeks during Spring Bank 24/5/2011 and had some very bad weather including torrential rain and lots of overcast days.
I just think the weather seems to be changing everywhere.
We've had rain in Goa in November for the last couple of years but never seen a drop previously.0 -
Might be handy for someone else pondering a trip to the Greek Islands in May 2012 though, now the thread's back on the front page

I appreciate that it's good to share favourite Greek Islands but I've just been making the point that any advice to the OP is likely to be pretty useless now.

I don't care how old this thread is! Without it I probably wouldn't have thought to look at Thassos - and it looks great! Parga looks lovely too!
I'm a Lindos (Rhodes) fan, but it is just too commercialised now and I feel ripped off every time I come home (I have to go back for sentimental reasons though). If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Glad I searched for this as we are struggling to decide where to go (which Greek island) last two weeks of June. So thank you for resurrecting it although too late for OP.
We have gone to Kefaolnia for the last two years - fabulous hence wanting to return to a Greek island but somewhere different. Crete seems to be winning at the moment. We are a 'young' middle aged couple who:
- don't want to queue/'fight' for sun beds
- want good sunshine
- don't want a hotel full of children (sorry, no offence but we've done all that and now prefer a bit more peace and quiet)
- usually go SC so that we can sample various restaurants in the night (but we are fairly open on this)
- want a beach within a fair walking distance
- don't want a 'posh' hotel and are flexible on prices (we were paying around £1100 for two weeks in Kefalonia SC and were very happy with the standard of the hotel/apartments - would pay more if hotel was the right one)
- happy to walk to 'town' from the hotel - we stayed in the San Giorgio in Skala and it was a 35-40 minute walk into Skala. This was ok but we were fed up in the end. You could get a taxi but we felt walking at least gave us a bit of exercise after lying on sun beds all day. Would prefer less of a walk this year. San Giorgio highly recommended BTW
- Like hiring a car for a few days and exploring other parts of the island
Cheers
