HELP!!
My kitchen sink was slow to drain so husband had a look at drain and it wouldn't go down.
We lifted the back garden manhole & it was FULL, checked front garden manhole and it's the same!
I have phoned my water company who said to ask neighbours, theirs is fine.
So I have a problem but just wondered what is the cheapest way to clear it?
How much will it cost to get Dyno rod or similar in??

cheapest would be to get some rods and try it yourself.
assuming you don't have any BG cover?0 -
Screwfix have a set for £27

Whats BG cover?
I can't do it, and husband has even less of a clue than me!
Going have to call someone out but just wondered if you lovely peeps had any idea on rough price:money: Martin Lewis Rocks!:money:0 -
Without sounding obvious, its a blockage in the back drainage system, does anyone else run into yours eg your neighbours.
We had a similar problem couple of months ago, but we had a policy with British Gas that covers all drains etc, so we had dyno rod out for free.
If its blocked up to the top, its not going to be look before the pressure causes it to go over the manhole and into the garden.
from phoning dyno rod they were out within 30mins (that was an evening about 9pm), they unblocked and found it to be sanitary towels that had blocked it, which was from our neighbours, there wastage goes into ours where the man hole is and then continues down the back garden of the other neighbours.
They cleaned up the mess, checked 2 further man holes down the line, just to make sure they were clear.
Recall looking up and if we had to of paid it would of been £150, but think was including the after 9pm rate.
the service was excellent, couldn't fault dynorod and its fixed price, so u know where you stand. good luck xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
If your'e two manholes are fully blocked as you say, you will need to have then jetted by dyno rod etc, to clear your drainage pipes, as drain rods won't touch such a large volume of crap (no pun intended)
About £110 plus vat, try your home insurance to see if your covered.0 -

The BG - guessing is the British Gas insurance as you can take out the incurance to cover all plumbing and drains.
with the mess being so close to the top you do need professionals out, unless you know what your doing with draining rods you could do more damage.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi
Don't call Dynarod if you can help it. They are expensive, and you can get an equally good service from smaller outfits. Check out Yellow Pages and save yourself a few bob. If it's any help, we recently had the same problem. OH used drain rods, and managed to clear the blockage. Not a nice job to do (clothes were burnt afterwards!), but it did the trick. A word of warning to readers: our drains were blocked by toilet paper. Will never, ever use Charmin again. It does not disintegrate!! Better to put your finger through............sorry!0 -
use dynarod etc as a last resort. borrow or buy a set of rods. far cheaper.
there is very little, that a set of rods wont shift. yes it is a bit mucky.
buy a set of gloves too!Get some gorm.0 -
The water company have caled me back, a man is coming to look at it tomorrow to see if it's our problem or theirs. Fingers crossed it's in the road and therefore the water companys problem !:money: Martin Lewis Rocks!:money:0
