    Hi,

I have studied post 1, but still dont fell too sure on when I should start. I know that I should be looking at pay around £100.00 per night including taxes. but should I be doing this nearer the time?

    From Post #1
When to bid, early or late?
There is no good answer to this question. Some great hotels load their Priceline inventory months in advance. Others only load inventory or their best rates shortly before the dates.
Bid as soon as your dates are firm, but the lowest bid you’ve found with your research.
If you aren’t getting what you want, don’t keep bidding and raising your price through impatience. Stop bidding and make a cancellable backup.
Watch the two forums for winning bids in your city\zone and or wait until about one month to three weeks out, then bid more seriously
  • thanks, I got this but was wondering in my circumstances as I am being quite specific about the hotel I want should I just wait until nearer the time, as until they put thier prices on I will loose out everytime. will just give it ago. t

    Thanks anyway.

Also becuase they are listed on priceline, does this mean the will post their spare rooms all the time?

I'm not sure where you are getting the information from.
I think you are looking at the 'wrong side' of priceline.

As it says in my guide.
Make sure you’re at the Name your Own Price page on Priceline.

They’ve altered the web-page and they automatically load their normal Travel Agent Page.
You cannot specify a specific hotel on Priceline.

This list shows only those hotels that have been reported as per the statement at the top of the page (copied below
This hotel list is ONLY a summary of the hotels that have been received in winning bids posted on this board.*

If you don't see a particular quality level or zone on this list, that only means that someone has not posted a winning bid for that quality level and/or zone. It does NOT mean that priceline does not offer hotels within that quality level or zone. If priceline offers a zone or quality level on their website, it is safest to assume that they do in fact offer hotels in that zone.

This hotel list is NOT a comprehensive list of all hotels that may be received through priceline. You may receive a hotel through priceline that is NOT on this list. We see NEW HOTELS appear all the time.
As it says in the guide  once your travel plans are firm and you have researched the likely staring bid price and know what is your upper limit, then start bidding.

And the other thing it says in the guide
If you are a first time Priceline bidder then I urge you to look at BetterBidding and ask for a strategy.

Could I suggest you just link to Betterbidding instead of repeating the wins\bids here?

Hope you used their link

    3) Your travel plans are fixed, there are no refunds\cancellations once you’ve paid.

This is not strictly true. I managed to book the wrong dates for my 3 night trip to London, so I called Priceline and explained the situation, and they initially refunded 2 of the nights, and then refunded the 3rd night after I had successfully booked the correct dates through them. Then they slapped a £15 admin fee on top, which I didn't feel was unfair at all, considering that they do not undertake to refund bookings.

So, all in all, I had a lucky escape!
