The Tribunal is 100% independant from the DWP and will include a Dr. There will be a wait as others have posted. Get as much evidence from anyone involved in your health care, and contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, they may be able to represent you.

    Yep. :)

Because you will be working with a team of a few other guys all moving down the road together with the lorry,
picking up bins from the street as you go, tipping them into the lorry,
and then putting the bin back infront of the house that you picked it up from. :o

You will be with a team of people, and so if you started hallucinating they would just show you where the bin was that needed picking up,
its not the police or fire-service where your colleagues will be ''relying on you'' to protect their lifes ands others, simply relying on you to pickup and empty bins into a lorry,
and there have been bins and bin men for hundred and hundreds of years, so theres no requirement to know the exact date everyday. :)

Have you ever actually dealt with someone who is having visual hallucinations?
I'm guessing not otherwise you would know what you are saying is complete and utter crap

OP I'm sorry I don't have any advice to offer to you
Just wanted to say good luck

If they can't, they can give you information about people who can.

Morgan's quite true, if you've never had them you can't comprehend what they do to you....I have visual ones as part of my psychosis, and you can see any amount of weirdness that no-one else does.

Of course the guys who empty the bins have time & training to ensure the safety of a colleague with severe mental health issues. I would have thought this was possibly one of the most dangerous jobs for someone like the OP.
Have you considered going to speak to your MP? They can usually make the cogs turn faster so that you won't have this hanging over you for so long. Do try & get a support worker to go to the tribunal with you.
    Good luck
  • Sorry for trying to bring this thread back on track

herosjourney have you tried the Welfare Rights Officer of your local council?

here's Lambeths page but all councils should have one

    http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/Services/AdviceBenefits/Benefits/HowWeCanHelp.htm
    The welfare rights officer will:

provide the advice and information you need in a way you can understand,
carry out any necessary calculations. For example to check if you are missing out on any benefits or to do a better off calculation if you are moving into work,
contact the Department for Work and Pensions, local authority and other relevant agencies on your behalf including helping you with disputes and appeals.

I'm about to enter the nightmare that is an ESA claim in a similar circumstance to yourself. Good luck :)

Hi my dad has DID, its the new polite term for MPD (multiple personality disorder) from extreme abuse as a child.

he was unfit for work for many years actually most of my life due to the fact his alters would come out and cause havoc. and the insurance *im from canada originally so it goes through insurance not really state* constantly turned him down and finally it took his doc and therapist to write notes and letters and finally had the insurance ppl come to the docs office to explain it all.
    its a very severe situation

to give you some hope.. he did do some PT work nearing the end of his treatment and all though he will never be fully cured he does feel whole and is able go to back to FT employment

Just an FYI you never have to tell yoru employer that you have DID... at all! there is no law in this country that states you have to disclose this information!

Good luck on your tribunal I am awaiting mine for mental health issues like you i scored 9 got the whole should be back to work in 3 months etc... but there was a lot of conflicting info like "she is not rocking therefore is not sick"

cause you know us crazy people walk around talking to ourselves and rocking back and forth! all day everyday
  • Thank you for all your wonderful advice here. You have really made me feel more positive and hopeful. I've received a form from the tribunal people asking me to send it back within 14 days. They claim it will take 8 weeks or so and no more than 14 weeks before my tribunal takes place.

I am going to get letters from all the various health professionals who are treating me.

I also noticed on the DWP letter that the Decision Maker claims that I did not submit any medical reports at all but then in their bundle of evidence they actually INCLUDE a whole bundle of medical reports I submitted. They gave their reason for sticking to the ATOS decision as "claimant did not submit any medical evidence." I don't understand that at all and I am tempted to write to them again and ask them to actually LOOK AT and acknowledge the medical evidence.

Thanks again everybody and I will keep you posted about what goes on.

This would surely count as evidence that you're not fit to work and at least that you're not available to work. Have they put this in writing?

Yes they did! Should I send that to the tribunal?
