I'm pretty sure in order to collect money your bro-in-law would need an ID badge with relevant charity information such as the registration number. Min. age for charity collection I read somewhere is 16 but 18 in London. The fact they are collecting in nightclubs sounds extremely dodgy even if they weren't underage."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Well SS, you couldn't be closer.
Never mind pretty sure.. it is a legal requirement for people collection for charities to have charity ID including the registered number. Without this it purely ILLEGAL.
Superscaper... random question (can be answered in pm if u wish) why do u refer to me as MM? :P[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Because I'm illiterate and can't type and was meant to put MK. :P
Looking at the website further, they already accept donations to themselves which would already legally require them to have registered charity status."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I've sent a link to the website to the Charities Commission, I'll let you know if I get a response."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Ye good idea
As far as i'm aware any person(s) who are requesting money under the name of charity must be registered and have a legal license.
Hope we've helped OP[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

BTW - WHOIS isnt always that reliable.
WHOIS details for my website are:
Registrant:
Domains by Proxy, Inc.
DomainsByProxy.com
15111 N. Hayden Rd., Ste 160, PMB 353
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
United States
Cost me approximately £1 to make it show that, available for ALL domains except .co.uk.
The reason I opted for that was to avoid spam e-mail and junk mail though, not because I'm up to anything dodgy - Honest!0 -
But in this case it does tie in with the address given on the website. And for a supposed charity who are legally required to be transparent in giving contact details then it would have appeared very dodgy for them to have used a service like that. But you are right that as individuals it's not always easy or even possible to get owner information for websites."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

umm... this is very suspect.
you could always contact where they claim to operate from:
Woodland Fort Community Centre, Crownhill Road, PLYMOUTH, PL5 3SQ
best thing would be to drop in and ask staff about this 'organisation'0 -

god i wish there was a smiley that had 2 fingers in the air at people... never mind ay
the address that is provided on the website is called "Woodland Fort Community Centre" which is on Crownhill Road.
there is also a pub called "the Woodland Fort Inn" which is on Butt Park Road.
Both are in Plymouth.
now, i did read the part what the OP sais about it being a pub, but the address provided on the website is a legit community centre.
just worth a thought i think0
