Hmmm, do any of you techies know... is the suffix .org for charities only?
Sounds like this lot need reporting to the Charity Commission!
Edit: have looked at the site and they look more legit. There is a registered address there - Woodland Fort Community Centre, Crownhill Road, PLYMOUTH PL5 3SQ - are you saying this is a bar?Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Well if the interviewees are being told they are going out to collect money, it sounds like they're claiming to be a charity to me. But you are right MM the website doesn't make it clear whether they are a charity themselves although claiming to be non-profit might mean you have to register for charity status, I'm not sure."She is quite the oddball. .org is the international/american tld anyway and anyone can buy an .org domain. .org.uk may be a different matter though."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Anyone can buy .org yes but it is the official charity domain.
ALL Charities will own .org domains. Charities with just .nets for example are likely to be fradulent as .org is the registered charity domain. I assume charities get .org's at a cheaper price for example.
Either way... any domain can be purchased except private domains i.e .gov... so don't rely on a suffix/prefix to whether something is legit or not.. redirects can easily be used too[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Yes this is a bar. A social club type set up that puts on birthday parties etc. My bro in law and 2 16 year old mates had their interviews. This consisted of having their photos taken and then what i have said above. They spent most of the evening playing pool in that registered address there, which is apparently a charity but in actual fact is trading as a social club.
Also i thought to enter a nightclub you have to be 18? They are all going to various clubs collecting money even though they are 16?0 -
MM right as always, I've just looked up my domain registrar and I can easily buy .org.uk domains as well. As MM said you can't buy governments domains, also education domains are restricted as well. Org I think is meant to encompass any non commercial organisation which of course don't necessarily have to be charities."She is quite the oddball. And you say they were offered alcohol as well? None of this gives me any kind of confidence in the organisation. None of it really adds up."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes offered alcohol and then taking up onto the moors so as the "interviewer" can show them what his car can do. All very very dodgy in my opinion but as i say a 16 year old doesnt listen and wants the £30 a night he has been told he will get.
If they get over £1000 in their buckets a night that rises to £40 a night!!0 -
And probably nothing for whatever charity they "think" they are collecting for.0

Apparently it is for a childrens charity0
