The standalone product might still be virgin but the LLU product is C&W LLU which this thread is about.

I was with Tiscali who I was more than happy with for my broadband and landline but since the take over by talktalk I'm desperate to move. Anyone Know if I can swap to this Tesco deal as it looks better than my present one. Only problem is I've been told it's difficult to get away from talktalk (I haven't agreed a new package with TT since they took over tiscali just continued with the old package). One of the reasons I'm not happy with TT is my internet rate seems to be varying from 1.8 mgs to 4.8 and sometimes it drops out altogether.
    Any advice gratefully recieved,

    MM

You can swap to anyone you wish as long as you are out of contract and your line has not been LLU'd by Tiscali.
If it's already LLU'd, then you need to take your line rental back to BT first before you can swap ISP's.
Your speed fluctuations may however have nothing to do with Tiscali, you need to first do all the standard tests to rule out faults with your wireless connection/internal wiring/router/ADSL filters.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • To confirm some of the points above - Tesco Broadband has just very recently been relaunched. There are several articles from the last 2 days on the various broadband review sites.

They partnered up with C+W late last year and are currently very restricted as to where they can offer the service (I rang and gave them my home and work postcodes and neither was available yet).

It looks like a good deal given there are no hidden catches. Mobile contract users might score a better deal with their provider (eg Orange), but for medium to heavy users it seems to stack up pretty well if you can benefit from the free calls that are included as part of the package.

UK call centres are a real bonus, plus Clubcard points as you spend. Apparently they are also offering 1500 Clubcard pts to new customers too, which could be worth up to £60 in Rewards vouchers.

  • In case it is of interest to anyone, I have recently contacted Tesco about their new Tesco Broadband & Home Phone Packages and have been informed that these packages do not include any email addresses. They recommend that I set up a free web based email address instead.
