i was thinking about this last night, and i thought, imagine what it will be like in 200 years time, if you can look at the past in so much detail on the internet - amazing.

imagine if we could do that now, and say, take a virtual stroll around victorian london.

Mmm, if only steampunk-esque victoriana was not confined to the realms of sci-fi.

The sheer amount of information we record nowadays means that in 200 years time people will have a very different idea of what "history" is.

... all dependant on whether the machines rise up and destroy us before then, of course!

I just had a look and my house isn't on it but had a quick look at the old aerial view and it's now bugging me as to who drives a land rover type vehicle and why were they parked on our drive :D

I had this with the old ariel view one and for ages it was mates car that was there for around 5 months

now it a car and van i have no idea who tho.

as for street view, the fella was having a rant yesterday about his house being on it, til i said the exacy same as others
whats to stop people walking past with a camcorder or even mobile phone and filming your house?

my house has been on it from the day it started, and i am grateful the wall is still in one piece on streetview as its been damaged since then

Why when people post do they never

    a) Search the forum to see if already posted?
    b) get the facts right?

UK is now 98% covered by Google Street View. Big difference

Like i said, i may be wrong. Shame you dont practice what you preach and read the whole thread, let alone check the whole forum.

This forum is for normal people.. it is not a requiremnt to get everything perfectly right every time.

Oh if only we were all like you...

I didnt post for other peoples opinions on the choices i make as an individual.. i posted this as info for others... those that dont mind can enjoy looking up their homes and those that dont can go on there and get it removed

Its all about a matter of choice and I am enititled to mine :-))

If you are entitled to your opinion, why are other people not entitled to give theirs?

.. and my daughters school ent has been taken off...

I'm not sure what an ent is, but why would anyone think it necessary to get pictures of a school removed?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

No problem here... aside from that they chose the day we were having our new fence put in to take the pic which means on my drive there are our cars as well as a big van and a cement mixer.... nice!
