Hi everyone,
This is my first post. I have searched everywhere for this unit and found it for £130. Does anyone know where I can get this for £99 still? After much searching the internet I have found several places (halfords, woolworths, dixons/currys/the link/somerfield/kwiksave) all of which are sold out.
Any ideas?
Many thanks!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

The latest mapping is V8, if you have this mapping I'm afraid the next update won't be till early 2007. When this happens there will be a charge, although at this time I don't know what this charge will be.
To find your map version go to Settings/Map/Map Info
When I look on mine, under Map I only have:
Map Detail
Map View
Map Source - ok found it here, looks like I am on v7 :-(
How do I go about finding the version?0 -
I don't recall getting an Unlock Code with my i3 - should they be with all units or is it like the golden ticket in Willy Wonka?!
Also as my unit is on v7, how do I go about upgrading to v8? The Garmin website looks like they want to charge me $75 for this 'privilege' :-(0 -

Give them a ring on 0808 238 0000 and ask them.
And perhaps your complaint should be about the retailer selling out of date stock, rather than Garmin's generous offer to provide a free upgrade.0 -
I've brought one of these new from ebay (130 quid). Unfortunately it seems to be missing the CD with map source on it. I note that theres mention in the thread above about the newer versions coming preloaded with the maps whilst the older ones have a transflash card. The packaging of mine talks about preloaded maps but the unit itself has a 256mb flash card, and when you turn it on, it tells me to upload the maps onto it (which i clearly can't do). Have i been stiched up? The seller seems like a nice person and the packaging was not opened.
Any ideas? I'm guessing that Garmin won't want anything to do with it as I brought from ebay.0 -

You don't get a CD with mapsource on it, only what is loaded onto the unit or card. The only CD I got was the USB drivers CD.
I checked mine today and the maps are on the card as I get a message like you describe when switch it on after removing the card.
Can you clarify, are you getting the message when the card is in the unit? If so, does sound a bit iffy. Apparently if you attempt to load maps onto the card yourself it can wipe the existing ones, I backed mine up just in case I screwed up loading the POI's etc., hope that's not what has happened but...
Garmin are supposed to be quite helpful. Give them a ring and plead ignorance :rolleyes:This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

I have one of the new I3, with no transcard but comes with the transcard slot and V8 maps. It appears to have less memory to load up POI/speed cameras compare with the transcard version. I bought a 512mb transcard for £14 from mobymemory which allowed me to load the poi/speed cameras on.0

The cheapest I can see at the moment is £125 at Carphone Warehouse, unless you have seen any cheaper? Anywhere cheaper seems to have run out of stock.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
