I remember I used to go down to Dublin for St Patrick's day, and on the big motorway leading into Dublin from Drogheda used to be a wash of yellow, there must have been millions of daffs, I bet there is damn all this year.

Tree pollen doesn't seem late though - DS3's hayfever kicked in last couple of weeks of feb as previously. I guess some plants are more affected by the weather than others, just like people really.

  • ^^^ I hear you, my son is affected by tree pollen too.

We are definitely behind this year. My daffodils are finally out this week, last year they were out in mid Jan

I also cut the grass and my box hedge is starting to grow and soon will need trimming.

Glad you mentioned that. One of our little girls is on the piriton already and at first we wondered if it was an allergic reaction to something else.

I didn't give him any yesterday as he was fine but today he's back on the medicine too.

This link gives tree pollen forcasts:

I hope this does not annoy anybody but here goes.
i hate this type of question that seems to be asked every year without fail
Two years ago everything was behind by 2 or 3 weeks so we were told then last year everything was 2 or 3 weeks early compared to the year before (so if my maths serves me right that means last year they were on time ).
Since i was young i have always been told Spring starts on the 21st of march and not before but now it seems people tell us spring starts 1st of march ,,so someone is telling us porkies , i belive to be honest that the seasons are still the same they have always been give or take a week .This nonsense of seasons being late or early is started by people scaremongering about Global warming and goverments trying to find reasons to TAX us even more.
There used to a thing like seasonal veg but yesterday i heard English strawberries are now in the shop ,i think its more a case we are trying to confuse the veg and weather rather then the other way round god forbid the day we learn to control the weather .
thats my rant over sorry for any offence that may be caused

Grown in greenhouses in Kent, I'm not sure if they are heated at all, but probably is the answer.
That's a bit of a red herring, for any argument for global warming, one way or the other.

Has anyone's appeared yet? I'm beginning to think mine aren't going to do anything this year bar show some green leaves.
