i'm paying £29.99 a month for their platinum option, upto 10mbps (currently on 7mbps). It does the job, customer service are very poor but i try and stay way clear of them, i've diy'd all my problems and their all fixed in the end.

Why is there a price difference then ?.

I'd agree with mercilesskiller. I can't speak from personal experience but I've yet to hear a single time when someone has said AOL is better than any other ISP. An awful lot of problems people seem to have with websites and connecting and email registration etc are because they are with AOL.

For me personally i've been with them since 1997 and the problem i did have was 2 weeks with no access, later i found it to be a Line problem which was down to BT not AOL so for me i've had almost 10 years service with no major problems.

I agree, customer service is very poor though.

To be honest there's not many with good customer service, I'm with tesco online (I think they're run by NTL) and the time I had a problem their customer service was terrible. But I know there have been sites I've logged into where people on AOL couldn't gain access simply because AOL wouldn't allow it (and no they weren't !!!!!! sites, can't really remember but I think they were some gaming sites).

I think that these problems are more to do with the AOL software (which you do not have to infect your PC with) rather than the unlimited broadband that they supply.

    My Grandmother used AOL.

She then started getting me to maintain her pc and build a home network for her... and I'm telling you, AOL was just nasty on their machine.

There is nothing different between AOL and lop/css (internet hijackers). It is a disgusting piece of software...

If it was just the connection it may be alright.. we'll never know as its bundled with so much advertising and so much bull.

Saying that, the free cd's make a lovely mirage on my wall.

EDIT: Espresso.. also AOL with home networks is a disaster from my exp
