I cleared half a dining table today.I have fibro and CFS so am very pleased with myself.Thankyou for the kickstart.i wish i lived in the southeast and could use this company.I found it easier for pacing and emotions on the website than flylady.

Great start!! I have health issues too crutches that leave me very tired and in some pain, so I can understand what you are up against. So a 'small' achievement like this is doubly good.
How would you work best - tackling a room at a time (at a flexile pace that suits you) so you can slowly see the difference?
Is it worth googling to see if you can find a company that works nearer you? They do work in the South west too but I guess this isn't where you are. Or maybe email them to see if they an recomend someone in your area?
Letting go of stuff you 'used to be able to do' is also quite hard isn't it and it can help to have help with that.

My goal for the declutter process is to make my life as simple as possible, as I have limited energy, I want to spend as little as possible on the practicalities of life. Being organised definitely saves me energy and that includes mental energy with paperwork etc.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

well done bitter and twisted:T Keep us posted.

I'm sure you'll be please to hear that I did indeed send that text and I was quite firm while I was at it. Do you know, the cheeky mare left me a voice-mail saying that her partner had called round to collect said merde on a couple of Sundays and I wasn't in. This is a complete and utter falsehood and even if he had (which I'd dispute in a court of law with my hand on a stack of bibles) why was no voice-mail message, a text sent or a note pushed through my letter-box to make an arrangement to collect? I'm really ruddy-well annoyed about it now.

I'm going to send her a text tomorrow and give her a definite deadline or that cr*p will be in a a flaming skip. The nerve!

    Hi all :)
Honestly I am the worst hoarder and the most disorganised person that I know but lately I have noticed that if visitors ring to let me know that they are popping round I can tidy quickly in about 15 minutes which is an absolute first for me! All I have been doing is literally picking a couple of things up as I pass through rooms and it's starting to make such a difference - I am absolutely gobsmacked! Of course if visitors were to look inside my bedroom and spare room they wouldn't be able to see the carpet, lol but I'm slowly working on it :) I have always found it hard to do a little at a time because with me its all or nothing but since I haven't had the time to dedicate a day/weekend to really de-cluttering and cleaning I've tried doing the tiniest of things a bit at a time and it's working :)
So have faith - doing small bits here and there does work :)
Good luck and Happy Mothers Day for tomorrow ladies and have a lovely Sunday everyone else :)

I did quite well yesterday. My youngest son and I started to declutter his bedroom (he shares with his brother who is disabled). We moved and sorted a bookcase - it's now on the landing. We also sorted out a few plastic crates of stuff and managed to get two binbags for charity, one bag of rubbish, and the stuff that he is keeping is down to just one crate!

I'm hoping that he carries on a bit later, but this morning we have church, then they are at their grandparents for the afternoon. I'm intending to show a good example by starting to declutter my bedroom this morning before church :). A charity bag for the British Heart Foundation came through the door on Friday and they are collecting tomorrow, so it's a good opportunity to get rid of some stuff and help others at the same time - something to teach the kids as well!

Well done Kingfiserblue, once the family are involved it helps.

JennyJewel you will get there, start with just one room at a time with a rule once it's done clutter cannot be moved there not even for 10 mins.

Once the bedroom is sorted it will become your little haven, hopefully better sleep which will give you more energy to conqurer the rest.

Good luck everyone, we can do it.

  • BitterAndTwisted: Some people have such a nerve don't they. And then you suddenly realise you've ben !!!!!footing around, bending over backwards to be considerate and helpful and they really couldn't give a damn. Still, it does galvanise in to action when you realise this and that room will soon be clear.

Kingfisher - that is great: doen't it make you feel so much lighter twhen those bags leave the house.
Jenny - I redecorated half th house last year just by doing it in odd half hrs here and there. Doing the whole job at once was too overwhelming, but by refusing to think about how much still needed to be done and just doing a bit at a time meant by the end of the year I was staggered with what i had achieved.
I definitely agree with just quick blizt's with declutter becasue it does add up. I think the trouble really starts when there is so much that it paralyses you becasue you don't know where to start.

    :(

I will start with the kitchen windowsill - yes, my house is that bad. I have boxes in the bedroom that need urgent attention though - they were on the sofa but my husband moved them when his parents came to visit.

i was bad for not throwing stuff out from clothes and books to old uni work ( i graduated 10 years ago)
so had a clear out - all books i didnt want went to the charity shop, those in bad condition got chucked, same with clothes, either went in a bag for the charity shop or dumped - uni work got dumped as well as uni books (they were well out of date so not able to sell)

still got some way to go but its a start and i realised i had a thing for keeping boxes - so anything out of warranty got chucked
