  • Morning all

Have been MIA - again! - for a few days. Have kept a half eye on what's been happening on here though, so sending big ((hugs)) to those in need.

This whole business with the uncertainty over what's happening at work has got me down a little, but I'm trying to just get on with things. After all it's something that's completely beyond my control!

Been having troubles with DD at school, or should I say some other little pain-in-the-bum has been giving her trouble at school  trying to get her to pay money to be their friend :(:(. Makes me so angry but kids will be kids, and I just have to take care of her the best I can. We're going to sit and have a chat with her tonight and discuss where to go from there, in terms of speaking to teachers etc. Fortunately DH knows the other girl's Dad, and he thinks that if he knew what was happening he'd not be happy at all about it. We shall see how that progresses over the coming days.

With everything that's been going on, I have noticed that I've found myself in the supermarket far more than is necessary - brought about by a combination of disorganisation and the need for some retail therapy. I've spent a small fortune this week (by comparison to my other weeks doing OS), and I need to keep it in check or I'll quite easily be slipping back into my old ways again. I can't bear the thought of not being in control of my spending again, these past few days have been like a reminder of how horrible it was.....

So back on the OS properly now! BM was on last night, and I've been getting up a little earlier to make sure I can have the WM on and the clothes on the airer before leaving for work. Meal plan for next week can be adjusted to account for all the food I haven't eaten this week that is lurking in the freezer, and the bonus is the weekly shopping bill will be reduced :j. The MMM household is in need of a good old clean, but that won't be at the expense of sorting out DD tonight and it'll still be there at the weekend.

Sorry for such a negative post when other people have far more serious problems going on, I'll have a word with myself now I've ranted and get myself right for tomorrow :D

Hope you all have a great day.

...Am really cross as the boots I bought last September have holes starting in the leather just above where it joins the sole. They weren't cheap and they were meant to last hence spending the money out in the first place. I know the shop won't take them back as it's been so long and they will probably say it's the way I walk or something so I don't know what to do. I would guess there'd be somewhere I could take them but I can't imagine the usual "cut keys and resole shoes" place would be able to mend them....

I would take them back in anyway - they shouldn't be wearing out in the leather unless you are walking on the sides of your feet!!

GemmaBuckle - it's a case of having to do it! Still, the best thing of all is that DH really enjoys doing the work, and, although it's messy, he's very good at clearing up afterwards. I just wish he was faster, although he's working as fast as he can!

Taplady - (((hugs))) to your DS.

MancMillyMolly - (((hugs))) to you during this worrying time.

Well, I suppose I'd better get to work.

Morning Chums, did breakfast for a very bedraggled looking Basil, don't know what he has been up to but he seems to have won, tail feathers are looking a bit sparse at the moment but a couple of crunched up seeded ryvita's will soon put the whistle back in his beak hopefully
did the school run this morning and its really chilly out the wind seems to be coming from Moscow at the moment .My brother rang me from where he lives in France, and he was saying that he has never known it so cold and his wood bill this year for their wood stove cost them over 400 euros this winter, about double what it normally is.
I have just made a couple of lasagne's for my eldest DD's freezer for her, only her and her DD like them so I make enough so there are in two portion dishes.
I have a dentists appointment this afternoon so I will drop them off afterwards.I have also made a pineapple trifle as I had the makings in the cupboard.NSD for me today hopefully.I must remember to drop the library books off as well on my way to the dentists I try to do all my bits in a circular trip to save me using the car too much ,with the price of petrol rising almost by the day its becoming expensive to go anywhere now,£5,70 a gallon means that one keeps short trips to a minimum. When I first started to drive it was 4.6d (22.1/2p)a gallon, but then cars were a lot cheaper as well.Oh well time to get some housework done .Hope everyone has a good day, and <<hugs>> to those in need

    Afternoon all!

Glorious sunny day here today, always makes everything seem just that bit better! Still bloomin cold though, nose turned blue whilst I was walking the dog I think!

OS stuff today - not a lot as did most of the hw last night in a burst of enthusiasm whilst waiting for a phone call! Have filled the sc with plenty of veg and beans, toms and herbs and will be having a nice warming stew tonight with the kids - just as well as dd3 is in a netball tournament tonight, so we'll be rather chilly when we get home no doubt!

Will also be sorting out bread and yoghurt as have run out of both, doesn't seem to matter how much I make, there is never enough! Should really be doing some more kitchen sorting, but will just be moving stuff from place to place, as hoping to get new shelves up next week - so I might as well wait and move things only once, well that's what I'm telling myself! So am going to just potter about on here, catch up with some radio shows and do some crocheting of the blanket dd3 has requested for her teddy! On a side note, gotta laugh, dd3 went shopping with her dad to the Build a Bear Workshop last week, and refused the offer of clothes as "mum can get them much cheaper, she just looks for real baby clothes in the sales and charity shops!" Made me giggle when I was told!

Lunches for girls: hm cheese salad sarnies, few pieces of Aero (50p for a large bar in Mr T's, couldn't resist!), apple, raisins and yoghurt

Lunch for ds who is off with conjuntivitis: pasta which he is currently cooking

Lunch for me: leftover chilli, wasn't that great when I made it, but addition of some more spices and a sprinkle of cheese and it's not so bad now!

Dinner: hm veg stew created by the wonder of the sc! Might whip up a crumble for pud, have several tins of mixed berries bought for 10p each and plenty of cream in the freezer.

Have a good day all! xx

    Morning,
well, not much OS today, will do my ironing tonight, and tea is a mix of anything out of the freezer! I will be having river cobbler, jacket spud and sweetcorn, DS will have beef in gravy, mash and mushy peas! thursday nights are a bit manic! we have swimming and cubs, so only have 20 minutes at home t ocook and eat tea!

N9eav - Jack Johnson is amazing! I saw him at hyde park the year before last and am desperate to see him again. I started to listen to him years ago, when i found out he was a surfer, now my OH complains that when we go surfing (every wekk in summer) I always want to listen to him!!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Oooh Becky lucky you going surfing. I have ALWAYS wanted to learn but the land locked Midlands isn't very condusive for someone who wants to learn. I could I suppose surf the Severn bore but that's only once a year LOL! Have to make do with my boogie board which hasn't seen light of day for a long time! Can't wait for the kids to be old enough to use it :D

mummysaver - :rotfl: at your DD's comments re baby clothes. A tightwad in the making :D

MMM - Hugs to you xxx

Took the kids for a walk to the local allotments - I love walking up and down there I find it very soothing :o (it's not a locked one as it has a right of way running through the middle). I'd love one myself but just don't have the time or energy to devote to one. It's hard enough keeping up with my veggie patch in the garden and that's right on my doorstep!
It was nice and sunny when we left but shortly after it went cloudy and wind picked up. It was freezing  especially when you're walking at DD's toddler pace. Got back and the kids promptly wanted to go out into the garden - they clearly just don't feel the cold. Am now trying to knuckle down and get some more paperwork done with a very large coffee to ease me through it. If you see me lurking on here too long give me a nudge ;)

Bitsy, I started my son body boarding at 4 years old! he has swimming lessons every week to keep his swimming standards up, but it's a birlliant way to send weekends all summer, and once the equipment is bought, a very cheap hobby! i am very lucky to only be an hour or so from the sea!

Morning. Cold and frosty here, great isn't it, no rain and sunshine too....

I must be getting old, They are booking singists for Eden this year and although I could go free, I don't know any of the artists???? Am I that old or out of touch?

    ay
I'm old and out of touch but have heard of Jack Johnson - hes a kinda hippy surfer singer songwriter , bit folky.. Mika is like a flamboyant disco, rather effeminate, sang a song about how he likes fat girls (but i suspect he is gay as one of his videos is kinda leaning in that way)

Beats me about the others tho I think Clavin Harris is one of those djs who makes records ie he gets ppl in to sing over a backing track.. LOL:rotfl:

Just got back from Hemel Hempstead spent a bit more than I intended to but I have bought lots. Managed to get MIL Mothers Day pressie and card and her Birthday pressie and card which is in April.
Went into poundland and 99p stores and they had arm and hammer toothpaste for £1 so I bought 4 plus I got 4 spray bottles of biotex from 99p stores. I also topped up on batteries because I was getting low and sugar from poundland 1½kg bag for a £1 is a good buy so I got 6 to last me until I manage to go over again.

I went in the works and got some books and DVD's to put away for Christmas Pressies.

Went in the charity shops and managed to get the farmhouse cooking microwave cookbook for 65p I have the full set now:j
I spent £45 so for what I got I didn't do too badly.

DH asked me if I would like a kenwood chef for my birthday and I told him I would rather wait and see and pay all the bills off first. I would feel really guilty because they cost so much money.

Oh well I will go and get the dinner prepared we have honey chicken with HM wedges and sweetcorn for dinner tonight.

    Keep well all x
