OS Daily thread - Thursday 11th March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 11th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning lovely OS-ers!
Sunnyday - all my seedlings are up and growing well.. in fact the giant sunflowers and the Buttersquash Nut (as they are called in our house) already need repotting they are so big! The only thing that hasn't germinated yet was my yellow pepper seeds but I live in hope.
Molly - Hope you find someone who is well versed in your condition.. I guess at least these days we have the internet to explore and discover things.
SunnyGirl - we have been hanging out washing for days here, it's so lovely to not have to use the TD, it all smells so good from the fresh air and sunshine. Thanks for the texts btw. xx
Donny - Hope you get back safely hon
Bargain - glad your little chick got into such a great school!
Moggins - lovely to see you back!
Csarina - Ok, so what is a fat quarter? :rotfl:
Lowesy - You know my thoughts are with you. And it will take as long as it takes to move through this sweetie so don't condemn yourself for having bad days. Big hugs.
Tired mum - Hope you catch the culprit.
sandy -
That is great news!
Snoozer - hope it all went well yesterday.
Gemma - wow what an eventful few days you have been having! Sorry to hear about your bunny and your food poisoning but hope your visitors like your house and want to take it.

Made a lovely stew last night and will be making some of the leftovers into pies tonight. The stewing steak was so tender it almost melted in the mouth so going to add some of my famous pastry and that should stretch it even further!
Life has been.... hectic to say the least. A couple of friends for varied reasons have needed a lot of support and just a shoulder to cry on so have been caught up there and I have a meeting on Friday that I am not looking forward to.
Breakfast will be fruit salad to use up the bits and bobs in the fruit bowl.. Chopped it all up last night before bed so it's easily accessible. Lunch will be cheese savoury sandwiches, and dinner the aforementioned pasties/pies (depending on my mood!!).
I hope everyones day goes well and that anyone feeling poorly feels better. With love and light for all.

Good morning, MSD - and all who follow.
Well, it's still freezing cold here - I shall be SO glad when this winter has finally finished. At least it's been dry and sunny. It's also been windy, so I've been able to hang the washing outside to dry; like MSD says, it saves using the TD and the clothes are so much nicer when they've been line-dried.
DH has finished all the plastering in the hall; he just needs to do the 'chaux' which will go on the exposed stone walls and will finish the room off nicely. In the never-ending saga of doing up this house, the hall is really big and will be our next temporary sitting room which means more furniture-moving once the walls have been painted and the floor has been tiled. The next job will definitely be the kitchen - this will entail taking out the ceiling I've been stalling for months, knocking out a wall, bricking up a door and turning it into a window, installing a new radiator, and moving the units around - will be a major upheaval but will be worth it in the end. The job after that is taking off and replacing the roof at the front of the house, then we can use the bedroom in that part of the house. All good fun - not! We have lots of visitors planning to visit this year, so it needs to be done.
Dinner tonight will be lamb hotpot using the bargain lamb I bought yesterday - I'll make enough for another meal later in the week.
Well, I hope everyone has a great day and that Donny-Gal's trip goes well. (((Hugs))) for all who are feeling unwell or anxious.

Bonjour
Made it to Bordeaux in good time, very little traffic, some slight snow found, but it was not settling, very cold even -5C in the middle of the day near Teruel, (middle of Spain) and then again as we cross the Pyrenees. There were some magnificent waterfalls coming over the hills, due to the amount of water they had had, and loads of rocks where water had come out of them and turned into icicles, and tunnels with icicles hanging, tried to take some photos from the car, so if they succeed will post later.
Today is a shorter journey to Dunkerque, we have slept well, and will be getting ourselves in gear in a short whie and have a shower afer we have finished our coffee.
Breakfast is Weetabix in the hotel room (very OS) and then lunch will be sandwiches made before we left, and kept in the fridge overnight (well the car with -ive temps outside):rotfl::rotfl:
Will eat out tonight. Staying with a friend in Kent Fri + Sat nights.
Take care all - ((hugs as needed)) - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning. Cold and frosty here, great isn't it, no rain and sunshine too....
I must be getting old, They are booking singists for Eden this year and although I could go free, I don't know any of the artists???? Am I that old or out of touch?
Work at 1300 today... It was a long one yesterday with 5 hours of school Governor meetings added in.
Not sure what to do this morning. Cold means I can't dig the garden as it's frozen. Not sure I want to work on the boat.... Maybe tidy the office?
drink coffee and watch TV.
Where ever you are have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning peeps
cold and frosty again here this morning, i wasn`t expecting it really with yesterday being so much warmer so i had to unexpectedly scrape the car this morning.
DH will have left for his fishing trip by the time i get home today and he is away until Sunday night. The houndies are staying here with me this time though as its too cold and there is also some work to be done in the area so he usually voulenteers to help with this and its not good to have the houndies running around when thats happening. Not sure how he will manage to get out of the house without them though
wish i was a fly on the wall.
Tea tonight is another pie (the last one) from the freezer with jackets and veg, its all ready for me to reheat so thats one less job for me to do later as i shall have the extra doggie walks over the next few days with no DH.
I`m planning to start painting the kitchen with what will hopefully be the last coast of paint over the next two days so fingers crossed that i get it all done and everything back into its rightful place before i start the long shifts again.
I`m planning on sowing more seeds later too, i didn`t get outside after i got home yesterday as it was raining - not full on but the nasty drizzly stuff that wet you through quickly so i stayed indoors. Maybe later
Diva - Glad to hear your seeds are doing so well :j
Tired Mum ((((HUGS))))
Catch up with you all later.
Have a lovely day peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Good Morning
Hope everyone is ok yesterday was a bit manic and I didn't get on here.
Cold here again, no matter as I am in the office all day. Loads of boring work to get done so will be strict with myself and get my head down when the kids have left for school.
OH is at home so he will get on with some housework
Very easy pizza and salad tonight.
Nothing else to report, its all very boring recently
Have a good day.x0 -
Good morning.
Frosty here but the forecast is for more sun and possibly 10 degrees later on :j I'm looking forward to the clocks going forward now as the nights are drawing out quite a bit already.
Final day of the week at college for me and it's looking like it'll be a busy one. I am just about getting used to it all now and am no longer having to go to bed at 8pm :rotfl: I only manage until 10pm though on a good day
Sausage pasta for tea as we didn't end up having it yesterday after all as there was only 3 of us we had a chinese. It was lovely I have to say!
Diva Big hugs honey xx
Tired Mum Hope you find out who the culprit is xx
Molly I think it's time for a change of GP too ((hugs)) xx
Sandy :T:T Great news!
I shall go and see what the Flylady list is for today and peg the washing out although I'll probably need gloves to do it!
Have a good day and hugs if you need one xxx0 -

Now then, I have heard of both of them, I am obviously much younger and trendier than you
Off to work today, I shall be glad when this week is over, its been so busy these last two weeks.
Dinner tonight will be something with chips, possibly fish fingers, so no effort at all.
I have wash to put on, OH is working on a roof removing chinneys, and is coming home covered in dust everynight, so loads of work clothes to wash.
Going to order the new bathroom soon, thanks to Jayward who pointed me in the right direction, I think we might get a bargain price, just got to find the right sink, the rest of it is fairly straight forward. I shall be glad to get a new one in, as no matter how much I scrub the other one it still feels grubby to me
Sandy, great news about the offer xx
Snoozer hope all went well yesterday.
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning all
Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.
Dry, foggy and cold here this morning but hopefully will get some sunshire later.
Didn't get chance to post yesterday as had a busy day. Have quite a list of all the normal jobs to be done on my days off. Will be going to the scales shortly - not looking forward to it as have had quite a few bits that may have knocked the weight loss, a stay the same would be great but we'll have to wait and see. Dinner last night was stew and dumplings, (no dumplings for me tho) mash and veg - had lovely flavour so was big hit with the family. Tonight we are having HM lasagne with side salad, coleslaw, pasta salad etc. Need to bake some more HM treats for lunchboxes and the weekend, although OH and myself are going away on our own - we should get some quality adult time! The boys are going to my parents as DS2 has a rugby match and we didn't want him to miss it. He played in his first match last weekend and he got a mention in the local free newspaper match report - so we all very chuffed and I got a bit teary eyed when I read it as this was the first time and we were the proud parents!!
No other OS to report.
Have a good day everyone.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

It is very hot and stuffy in our office today. Can’t do a huge amount about it though because one of my colleagues has that condition where it’s hard to keep warm. Reynards is it? The consequences of her getting too cold are a bit worse than me being hot and stuffy so I shall live with it!
LameWolf – 7 isn’t bad for a rabbit. I was amazed he lived that long though as the people that had him before me didn’t really have a clue about rabbits so he had quite a stressful life!
Tiredmum - sorry about the link. I should have checked that. I tried to edit yesterday’s post with the correct link but when I click edit it just sits and looks at me, then crashes, so if you still want to see cute furries - http://www.cottontails-rescue.org.uk/
Mioliere – I don’t know how you do it. We’re looking at houses that the estate agent says are “in need of modernisation”, but nothing comes close to what you’re doing! Maybe when you’re done you could come and sort us out. It’ll only be a weekend’s work for you!
N9eav – I’m 27. I’ve never heard of any of them either.
Rang the bank last night to check how much it would cost to pay off my loan in full – I should have enough in my current account to do it on payday (end of the month) so that’ll save me about £100 in interest. :TNeed to leave the office a bit early today so I can get the rabbit hutches cleaned out in case we acquire a new furry tonight. Also need to wash up (didn’t do it last night. The shame) and get some laundry done. Oh, and the ironing. And vaccuum. And not forgetting walking the dog. And I really need to do my accounts and work out my grocery challenge totals (I may have already been shunned from the group:o) OK, I might need to take the day off work…
GxxxGrocery Challenge 2010:
