Redcar is finally introducing kerbside recycling. I therefore think its time for me to invest in a shreader. I'd be grateful for advice, would be willing to spend a bit more for a good one. Thanks

I got a shredder from Argos as a Christmas present. It is a Safe Shred model SD5 and is £16.99 in the Argos catalogue.
It is mains run and I find it very good. You can shred up to 5 A4 sheets at once, but it can only be used for around 3 mins in one go or it may overheat and cut out until it cools down again.
Mind you although I save up my personal info and shred in batches you would have to have an awful lot to spend that amount of time shredding!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0 -
I know this has been said before, but get a CROSS CUT shredder as the strips are still readable.
They are around for £15 (-1p), and Staples had one in their sale at £9.99, dont know if it is still available.
Scat;)Moi....?

Hi - last year I had a massive clear out of paperwork and shredded the lot. Finished up with 5 bin liners full of shredded paper. Was told by our council that shredded paper is not recyclable. Apparently once shredded paper loses its consistency and is of no use. I always shred anything with a name or address or any numbers on as a matter of courseWhen did problems become "Issues"? :mad:0

i got a great priced home shredder which is strong enough to shred credit cards - v useful...got a little overzealous with it tho and stuffed too many pages thru at once...taken me a month to unpick the bits from the blades but its working again now...ok you cant recycle shredded paper but you could always get a hamster (not for shredding!!) i also remember trying to get rid of a load of small shredders in perfect working condition from our company and couldnt give em away - may be worth a cheeky phone call to some local organisations to ask if theres any surpluss to requirements? free always better than cheap!!R0

glad - thanks for posting the links to those other threads. I've just read them both, including the amazingly detailed information from Tama_j and will be looking out for a cross cut shredder in line with all the information in there. I used to work for a bank so am fully aware of all the trouble that identity fraud can cause customers
and have a tray full of paperwork waiting to be shredded!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Morrisons have a shredder for £8.99 redcued from a £9.99 it shreds 5 pieces of paper at once.
