Actually you can wash the kitchen surfaces down everyday.
Do you really need to ask her can you sweep the floor? Can you not just say to her "right I'll give the kitchen a wipe & brush over unless there is something else to do"?
You really need to be a bit poractive here, do you really need instruction for every little task?
Noooo. I didnt know where the brush was kept so asked and she said why so I said I will sweep the floor and she said no lol.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
Isn't it also important NOT to do tasks which are NOT in the care plan?
Seriously, I think my mum would go demented if someone changed her sheets without being asked to do so. Even if they appeared to need it.
Also it may be worth the agency having a discussion with the granddaughter, maybe gd would much prefer the agency to do some of these things but the lady is saying that the agency staff won't / can't / never do anything.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
It seems even here I cant do anything right. I have people saying do more so I do more and its wrong. I do less and its wrong. Lol.
Ive made it more domestic because theres not a lot of personal stuff to do once I get there at the time she requests. Shes up, showered, dressed, eating/making breakfast on arrival. Theres not a lot more to do apart from make a cup of tea, make the bed, fold her nightclothes up, empty the bin. All of what, 5 minutes?Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -

But I did ask? Otherwise I wouldnt do it. I want her permission to do more for her. I want her to tell me what on earth she wants but I dont think she even knows herself.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
What's your supervisors view on all this. What instructions have they given you ?.................

Nothing. No one has given me pointers at all. Ive only spent time with one of my colleagues for shadowing her work day and that was when I first started the job so months ago. I rarely see my supervisor.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -

And it sounded from someone else's post - someone who knows about these things professionally - that it might be important NOT to do things which weren't pre-agreed. That would be for all sorts of reasons, you'd need risk assessments and protocols for doing laundry, wouldn't you? I mean, don't laugh, of course at home I just get dirty washing into the machine with my bare hands, but at work I'd be expected to wear an apron and gloves before handling dirty clothes or towels.
She just sounds very like my mum, who doesn't as yet NEED any 'care' but resists any suggestions that there might be more things people could 'help' with, to make life easier. Even when my dad was alive and he was unwell and they were both pretty tired all the time, she didn't want anyone coming in to help with ANYTHING because they could 'manage'. Suggestions were made that someone could feed the cats, get their breakfast and do the washing up, all of which Dad used to do. And of course they could 'manage', but it all took energy which Dad might have preferred to use for other things.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Starting to question the company. Feel a bit like this :wall:!
Said they were not sending me there anymore yet they have me on all next week and probably the week after.
The longer I am here the more I realise they are not good to their workers or clients.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
if i was you i would ring my manager and refuse to go if it is causing you stress, they have a duty to look after their staff.if they insist you go you need to put a grievance letter in0

Can I ask, maybe someone knows the answer to this!
When I first started up with the company they gave me training which was to get all the needed certification to start, first aid etc etc. Now, they have said if we leave before a certain time they will charge us for the weeks training. Can they do this? I was not paid for this week's time and do not have the certificates or even copies.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0
