So if an itme only sells for say £5 but is worth a lot more you only get £5 comp?0

The pertinent question, in my opinion, is 'how much would it cost to replace it?'My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Hmmm...
If OP bought the item for £20 and only sold it for £10 would RM see this as being worth £10 or £20? Would it be acceptable to send the £20 purchase reciept instead of the £10 ebay invoice?
At the ebay purchase happened after the initial purchase i imagine the 'correct' claim would be for the £10. RM could be open to a huge amount of fraud.0 -
I've always wondered what would happen if you lost something in the post that you couldn't provide proof of value for - I'm thinking about the times that I've sent things to my son at university, I've sent him all sorts of stuff in a goodybag / hamper style parcel and thankfully never had a problem but the claim form would look very odd with 'homemade chocolate cake' and 'pair of socks left from last visit home' - how would I prove a value for stuff like that?0

Thanks everyone for your advice!
Off to the Post office soon (just offered a refund to the buyer)
However, because this has cost me time, effort and stress, I think it's wrong that I should be penilised if Royal Mail are unable to do their jobs.
Thanks fo the advice anyway, my mission starts here!:money:The Name's Bond James Bond0 -
Good Luck! Hope you get a result at the post office - though think that it will be another couple of weeks before you get any money from them - think they normally say you have to wait 15 working daysWeight Loss - 102lb0

I'm back and guess what...
The woman at the post office basically fobbed me off claiming that I'd have to ring my local sorting office to sort it out.
and.. if that fails, she said I would have to ring an 0870 number and sort it.
Not happy now
Not sure if I'm going to get back my money. The Name's Bond James Bond0 -
She probably fobbed you off because it hasn't been 15 days yet. They won't accept a claim so early.

Somone recently purchased a football off me, and as soon as the auction ended, Thursday 13th July, I posted the item 2nd class.
However, I am beig told that the item STILL hasn't arrived, what do I do?
I told the buyer to please wait until mid-week to see if the item has arrived, but so far it hasn't.
What will happen now? What can I do?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
You refund the buyer. To buy or not to buy, need not be in question
