HELP! - Sent Item, Not yet Delivered

Hi there.

Somone recently purchased a football off me, and as soon as the auction ended, Thursday 13th July, I posted the item 2nd class.

However, I am beig told that the item STILL hasn't arrived, what do I do?

I told the buyer to please wait until mid-week to see if the item has arrived, but so far it hasn't.

What will happen now? What can I do?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Did you get proof of posting?

If you got proof of posting and the item doesn't turn up you can claim back up to £32 from Royal mail.

If you didn't i suggest you stall for at least another week and then refund if it still doesn't show.

If they paid by paypal they can open a dispute any time now.

I would also put in the positive feedback something like you are "really sorry the item was lost in the post".

You could also ask the buyer to phone and check with the sorting office. I have on two occations this year found I had parcells waiting there but not received the red slip in the post to advise me.

As the preivous poster says get them to check with their local sorting office to make sure then file a claim with Royal Mail and claim your money - by the way was it below £32 - know nothing bout footballs!

    Thanks everyone for your replies.

No the item's value is around about a tenner. Unfortunately I didn't send recoreded delivery, just second class.

However, if the buyer does make a chargeback- I hope to claim about £30 compensation from Royal mail. Is this realistic?

When asked if the item was values £32 or more I said "no". Will this affect the compensation offer?

If it is the receipt from the post office showing what you paid and the date etc then yes it should be fine. As for how much you receive I dont know on that one - I would of thought they will judge each case seperately

Depends how much you paid for the football and if youve got a receipt for it, the post office will need this before they pay out the comp.Btw in the past ive used a screenshot from a website to prove how much i paid for a lost item and they paid out no problem but in that instant it might of been a one off so i would recommend to send the actual receipt.Im normally the first to slag off the post office but so far theyve paid out for lost parcels 100% and in pretty quick time to.

They will accept the eBay invoice as proof of value - the payout is the final value EXCLUDING postage charges. Royal Mail compensation does not include the cost of postage (bizarre!) - so you would recover your tenner for the football.

its actually fraud to try and claim compensation for more than the item is worth u will need to prove the value of the item and u can do this with the ebay invoice on the claim form u will have to sign to say the amount that u claiming for is true

    As everyone above has said.

You will have to send Royal Mail a copy of the invoice for the ebay transaction to prove how much you sold it for.
