  • We have them in sainsburys here, but with the milk bag only clipping in at the front doesn't the milk touch the outside of the bag before it ends up in your cup?

If so you leave yourself open to all kinds of bugs, a patient here got botulism from rats running over the top of their coke can in the shop. Not sure I trust it sorry.

Just do what they do abroad.......give the bag a quick wash before you use it. And if you use the jugit properly, it doesn't ever spill for me anyway. I couldn't get any in Sains recently (wanted them for my inlaws who live abroad and always buy their milk in bags), but I found them in charity shops for 99p each, brand new.
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

I've had the bag split twice now in the freezer and not realised until the milk started to thaw and leaked all over my worktop

How did you freeze the bag, standing up or flat on it's side? I froze it flat on it's side. Standing up I could believe there might be a problem when the milk expanded as it froze.

It was on it's side. I think the bags are pretty flimsy and it was probably something else in the freezer with a sharp edge ie; a plastic meat tray or the corner of a pizza box which pierced it once it was frozen. If I bought them again I would be inclined to place them inside another container in the freezer which kind of defeats the object :D
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.

The mlk bags are on offer at Sainsbury's OP
  • In Dundee we had a milk bag system in the 1970's and it worked very well. The milkman delivered the bags through the letter box.

I started using the Jugit system about three months ago. Since then my sister has also started to use it. Advantages are less weight to carry
and also less to recycle when empty. It would be great if a few more retailers rolled out the system. Our local supermarket will become Tesco next year so I will ask them to adopt.

The system could be extended to fruit juices and spring water.

Sainsbury's have the free jug-it back on offer and 2 x 2 pint bags are back down to £1 for 2 bags (or 85p each) - so 4 pints AND a jug-it for only £1.

my son broke the lid off it the second time he used it.

    Ah well, it was free.

I snapped the clip on my Juggit on the second use. I filled in the feedback form on their webpage, received a quick reply and was sent a couple of spares free of charge.
Must admit have not used it since then.
