  • ok tried and tested these jugits..

    1. Terrified the milk bag would burst in transportation
    2. The milk bag doesn't fit neatly into the jug
    3. Once you fouter about with the bag and get it clipped it because the bag doesn't fit right into the jug you close the lid so the spout can burst the bag and whoooooosh..... milk all over the kitchen and spewing out the the pour hole while it has the lid on.

While it could have been a good idea its expensive, a hell of alot of hassle and mess that put me right off it, I liked the idea of less packaging etc but its more expensive than the plastic containers and you then spend time cleaning milk up from all over the kitchen....

    wouldn't recommend jugits to anyone
  • that made me smile - i rememered those plastic bags & jugs and was starting to think i imagined it!

Milk in bags, cats and dog's living together, MADNESS! :)
  • They're awful!!

They spurt when you pierce them, leak into the jug, drip under the lid all over the counter, go everywhere when you take them out again, and there's no stock of them on the shelf.

And the main reason for introducing them is environmental?! The local store and council won't recycle them (therefore infinitely more unsustainable than glass or plastic bottles) and we're wasting both milk and MUCH kitchen towel cleaning it all up.

We only bought them because the bags were very cheap when first introduced. I'll be taking the jugs back this week when the last bag is finished.

    BAH Sainsburys.

Never had any of these problems you have had, have you read the instructions re placing and piercing the bags?
    Recycling in my area too.

I get the milk bags sometimes, Milk and more (the milkman) had a free offer where you got a juggit when you bought a milk bag.

I am usually pretty good about not running out of milk, and milk and more closes at 9pm whereas ASDA closes at 10pm, so if I have forgotten it's cheaper to run to ASDA and get a litre of uht for 54p.....but on a Sunday night (ASDA closes at 4pm), I have on occasion ordered a milk bag from the milkman and so far the juggit worked ok - except my son broke the lid off it the second time he used it.

    Ah well, it was free.

  • easy to freeze in the bags though I have tried them and found them o.k but 4 pinnts in Iceland is cheaper and my local MrTs have started selling 'Creamfields' milk in 4 pints for a quid as well
  • No I didn't like the jugit or the Waitrose ones, they were equally as bad, leaked all over the place, then it wouldn't pierce the bag properly and went everywhere - nightmare!

I do like the Asda cardboard milk containers though, of course with plastic holding the milk inside! - at least the cardboard bit is recyclable - can't remember about the plastic bit though, as my nearest Asda is a 45 minute trip away I don't go there very often, I'd get these all the time though if I had the chance.
  • If you need a milkman try https://www.milk&more.co.uk, or if you want to see if there is a more local milkman https://www.findmeamilkman.net
