It Could be cheaper to buy a cheap one than pay for rented bikes? The bikes are good but depending where you are walking is OK.
Take plenty of Nuts and bird food Red squiggies and birds are great to watch on the porch or window take a bird book see how many you can spot
Woodpeckers and tree creepers to name but a few. We laso got a pheasant on the outside table. Check for any sign of mice in the villa if so complain for your meal voucher.

  • thank you again for info, were sposed to have red squiggles down here in poole (well on brownsea island) but I've never seen them, as for bird life were quite lucky down here and I regularly see green woodpeckers and jays where I work at bournemouth airport, along with endless rabbits.

but I've never seen a red yet :( so all your sayin is makin me want to go more and more

hit a slight snag tho - one of the group members (a female) has not given me a definate answer if she's coming or not and she's just !!!!!!ed off to northampton for a week babysitting GRRRR - every time I ask her she says she has to check dates, but with one of the other group members having already cancelled due to other commitments I really need her on the trip to make it affordable.

I'd try renting a smaller villa except they're more expensive so unless 4 or 5 of us go I can't afford it myself :(

How late can you book? I noticed they say they allocate your villa 4 weeks before you arrive, and also that there is nothing bookable before the last week of august?

  • quick update re car hire

went into u-drive (already the cheapest in the area) and spoke to the girl behind the desk who knows me as I'm always picking up vans for work.

she said I could hire at my bosses rate without putting it through his account

I can hire for example for one week including VAT, insurance and collision damage waiver

    Volvo V40 estate for £263
Ford Transit CrewCab Van £263 (possible for bikes but not sure of car par height restrictions)
Toyota Hi-Lux CrewCab Pickup (has hard top cover for pickup) £286

Oh dear. So there was 5 of you and now there is 3??? This right  . Could you not go for a 2 bed place and take your own car now there is less of you saving the car hire fee? We have gone to OW a few times always getting a code from the Daily Mail which has saved us upto 25%. If you check out the CP website each week they show any discounts available too.
  • unfortunately the 2 bed place is only £10 cheaper :( as for the car I could probably squeeze 2 passengers + luggage for 3 people but it is only a 999cc engine and a 350 mile journey, if I was going on my own I woulnd't worry about the engine size but with the added weight my car would struggle :( im doing 5000 rpm in 5th gear as it is to get 70mph on my own
