I saw a job on there today, so i thought i apply, had to ring the 0845 number from my mobile to get the details from the jobcentre, I was given an email address and was told to send my CV to them, which I did, thats no problem, Im just wondering if I hear back as I have sent my CV off to lots of companys and never hear anything back.

I even tracked down the company's website and have emailed them there also, what harm can it do.

Theses 0845 numbers to the job centre should be free!!!

I absolutely refused to call the 0845 numbers whilst I was unemployed; I was too frightened of the phone bill.

On the very rare occasion when I saw something worth applying for at the job centre minus (which also required an 0845 call) I would walk there instead (fortunately only five minutes away) and look on the terminal.

If that didn't help me I then had to bow out due to costs. I would NEVER use their phones, they were rancid; god knows what you might have caught from them.

    An entirely disgusting service really.

If I could work out who the company was I would email them direct as my first choice.

its crazy that the JS number is 0845
to walk to my nearest job centre would be a good 45+ minutes walk
especially if you phone and they give an email address to send
why not just have it linkable on the site?
they can have a contact form if employers dont want their email address accessible online

I know it's a bit OT but that blue is not easy to look at...

Apologies - it's one of my fave colours! How's this?

I must admit, I agree with the comments about the new direct.gov site, it's a really horrible format! I've not managed to find anything on that new site I really can't get to grips with it, even using my home town and searching 20 miles radius it comes up with really stupid locations. at least with the other site I could choose a couple of job sectors and generalise on one and specifics on another, with the new format I can only choose one at a time with a specific job title so I don't know if I'm missing jobs and it takes up more time to search each individual job area.

I have also noticed that there are alot more agencies advertising on this site as well, I refuse to use the agency postings on that site, I don't believe that they have the jobs and I really don't need to keep signing up with another agency that is just going to use me as a statistic for their own gain and mess me around.

I'm sorry rant over for me! back to job hunting again.

It's a shockinh site, the search filters don't work properly.

Gargabe, wonder how much PFI money went on this carp.

And today, the new search facility also seems to believe that Poole, London, and Hertfordshire are within 10 miles of Durham.

woah i get that too!!! got a right look because i walked in handed over my book and went to the job point... put in all local jobs (newcastle) and it came up with poole?! i was like !!!!!!? so tried again... same thing... gave up and sat down and i could see the woman proper staring at me! felt like saying YEA WELL YOU FIND ME A JOB!!!

    another rant... lol

all the jobs seem to be what i'd put in the category of "con jobs" i've been unemployed several times now... mostly due to the fact that nowhere will give me a permanent contract so have now said thats it... we're going to deal with the root of the problem and find me a permanent job - obviously i could be laid off there too but hopefully not...
all the jobs on the search are like "party planner... must provide deposit of £100" "door to door sales commission only"
and i just think surely the government should advertise worthwhile jobs that'll KEEP PEOPLE OUT OF THE JOBCENTRE.... not make them come back again in a few weeks?!

Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this! All the agencies I have been into have all more or less said there is little work at the moment and then you go on to this new website and there are lots of jobs with agencies. It's ridiculous and don't even get me started on the location search either, argh!
