Glad some things are working out for you.... try asking on freecycle for uniform - it's worth the question, as you're no worse off if there isn't any available

I'll try that, it is a long shot but as you say worth a try.
I might put dd's old blouses up there to, they aren't exactly sparkly white anymore but they are clean and tidy and they might help someone else out who's in my situation.0 -

I dont know if this will help but you could try advertising on https://www.freecycle for a fridge. Also try the education authority for a grant for school uniform they do give them in certain circumstances. Also might we worth asking for school uniform on your local freecycle as I expect a lot of kids will have grown out of this years, I know mine have so I need to get another 2 lots this year toolooby75 wrote:I thought I had my lightbulb moment before everything went t!ts up but it seems as though I haven't.
I totally forgot about a buy now pay next year item I got from my catalogue, I have to start paying for it in a couple of weeks. My budget is so close that I am just not going to have the money to pay for it, I might have been able to cut corners if I didn't also have 2 sets of school uniform to buy over the next 6 weeks and a new fridge to buy.
I'm up that creek without the paddle, so how do I decide who not to pay this month?

Durham are one of the councils that don't offer clothing grants. They used to offer a one off payment of £20 per child for a winter coat (that was supposed to last them from starting school to leaving highschool LOL) but they have even stopped that now.0
