I thought I had my lightbulb moment before everything went t!ts up but it seems as though I haven't.
I totally forgot about a buy now pay next year item I got from my catalogue, I have to start paying for it in a couple of weeks. My budget is so close that I am just not going to have the money to pay for it, I might have been able to cut corners if I didn't also have 2 sets of school uniform to buy over the next 6 weeks and a new fridge to buy.
I'm up that creek without the paddle, so how do I decide who not to pay this month?

Thing is I don't know which co to phone up and tell. If I tell one won't the rest be on my case pre-empting problems?
I've looked on freecycle but I live in an area with a high student population and there isn't a great surplus of white goods round here

??? I think you should atleast try? On freecycle you need to join your relevant area and then would ask the moderators if it is ok if you can ask for a fridge. Explain your situation - I'm sure they will let you post your request."Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0 -
Freecycle isnt everywhere though. The nearest group to me is about 120 miles away.
I echo the above advice but I also wanted to say keep your eyes on charity shops for the school uniform. I've found a few bits in the past that look like new and with the school logo on.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
try https://www.ad-trader.co.uk for a fridge, you will have to pay but might pick something up cheap that will tide you over0

As I said I have tried, I've tried freecycle, the salvation army shops, the local papers (all out of my price range at the moment, which is why I am trying to save up) Everyone round here knows that they can sell their old stuff to students so no one tends to donate much in the way of white goods (as I was told by the woman in the sally army store)
Uniform is a fixed price, for dd at least, ds isn't really a problem he's still in infants so I do tend to get most of his uniform from asda etc but dd is in high school and they have a set uniform you can only buy from truetex, There isn't a second hand market out there yet as the uniform was only brought in last year and most parents are trying to make a uniform last as long as possible as it's so expensive. Unfortunately my dd decided to do that annoying thing kids do from time to time and have a BIG growth spurt so I have everything to buy for her, blouses at £13 each, blazer at £25 (+) school trousers £15 a pair, pe kit t-shirt with school logo on £8 and a new skort £12. That's before you even get into things like shoes etc.
I was feeling really low last night and panicking a bit but I feel calmer now. I've worked out a few corners I can cut but it's going to be a very tight few months. Not great news for the summer holidays
Thanks for the suggestions everyone

Sorry to hear about your situation.
Fridge: do buy second-hand, paying more or less what a student would pay (in my experience not very much).
School uniform: do ALL items for your daughter have to be new, with the school logo on? For example, a school blazer is probably unavoidable, but surely a blouse is a blouse? And you can get a smart white blouse from a charity shop for about a pound. And does the skirt have to be a new school one, or just any smart black skirt?
Creditors: if you contact one of them to request reduced payments, they are not likely to tell any of the others. So it does not really matter: you can but ask. Do remember that a telephone call is not free, and of course the longer you take to pay off a debt, the more interest you will pay in the long run. However, getting them to agree to be easy on you is a lot better than paying late fees.0
